We all know the saying.
People who are fat, people who stutter, those who walk different all get called names and appear offended and go through stress, but the offender doesn't appear before a courtroom with a charge against their name.
We are taught to ignore it as it's just one of those things right.

So ,why does Racist slander cause so much controversy ?

Because "racial" features are unique within their "race"

Fatness, baldness etc happens in any "race"

So it´s not really an insult to just one group...
Although it´s an insult to an individual just as bad as racial issues are against a "race"...

I feel that your answer is biased though Dark..The reply is a good point but it still is a brush off at best.

Hear me out..

The answer you gave stipulates thats it's ok to harass someone if they are fat,but it is morally all of a sudden wrong for a man to call another man by his colour ,even though the offender is coloured ,lets be frank ,we are all coloured right ? ..
I know if i take a black man to court for calling me white boy or a Wiggerr i would probably make the 600am news for it.But if i was black and he white, well then i could make some good compensation.
My remarks are not racist and i do enjoy the company of black people..

Oh nononono.
What I meant was that, people in groups are taken more seriously than individuals...
Like if people starts harrasing the Blackvault.
We as a group of the blackvault would be offended and would fight back somehow...
But if they just harras one of us...no one really cares when in reality it´s equally bad... ;)

Racism is linked to serious opression....like, "go to the back of the bus"..slavery...genocide.

Where as name calling is just mean spiritedness. (I say that as if mean spiritedness is some light affair..it's not)

Actually racism can be seen as mean spiritedness gone amuck.(though, often enough it stems from ignorance..sometimes deliberate..deliberately chosen ignorance..which is just spritiual laziness)

It's a matter of degrees..and the power of speaking up in numbers.

Cruelness goes out of vogue when enough people speak up against it.

Enough people have been offended , or the victim of racism (or any kind of crulety, in general), that huge groups finally speak up against it.(power in numbers)

Look at how people are beginning to speak up about discrimination against and cruelty towards the obese..or the homosexual.

When people have had enough..an energy begins to grow..the tide turns..(back and forth and swirling..dancing around over time..wanting homeostasis of energies..yin-yang)

I say when in doubt..go to the "Golden Rule" (any relationship to the "Golden Mean", you wonder? Only in that it is beautiful and harmonizing)

"Whatever you do to the least of my people.."

But what about times it’s taken to be racist when nothing.

Someone was on the radio the other week and they came out with a joke:

`What do you call a Pakistani cloak Room Attendant,

muhat mucoat.`

A hundred people complained. Do you find that racist? I don’t. I find it quite funny to be honest.

Well things can be funny AND racist at the same time.
I know plenty of racist jokes that are funny.

I recently found out a nick nack in my home is considered racist.
I honestly never knew.

It's a little statue of a Mexican Man, wearing a sombrero..sitting as if next to a wall.

Mexicans consider this Racist..I just learned.

A racial steriotype.

I dunno..I still have it..I like it..
but it's got me to thinking...

Is my littel statuette similar to a "Mammy doll", in nature.

Starting to think..yeah...maybe.

But one can get too PC..just like one can get information overloaded..googling on the internet.

It comes down to degrees in the end..balance...just like anything else.

TOO open and wishy washy..vs. Too closed up..frozen..sterile.

Yin-Yang

You want to know what actually gets to me.
How racist jokes against white people is some how okay.
I am all for fair play and payback.
But it has/is going beyond that, at this point.
Racism directed at white people..is still racism.
I wish more people would speak up about that these days.

I see comedians of color all the time mockign white people..and everyone laughs.
Like that's OKAY.

It's not.

Agree. If we were to go around poking fun at everyone like others poke at us, we'd be put in jail.

well thats right..
There are two standards the world suffers because of it's history.
The thing is the past oppression is history but some races get violent and retaliate which is why racist slander has double standards.
Man,ive been called a white c*** many times for not bending over and giving out $1.00 to a beggar who cant be bothered working for it..Suing him is a waste of time obviously
