Fagging was a traditional educational practice in British boarding private schools (nearly all "public schools" in the English sense) and also many other boarding schools, whereby younger pupils were required to some extent to act as personal servants to the most senior boys.

Well did you have fags at school? I didn’t go to Public school but I went to private, I only live once and I don’t have time to explain the difference, and I had a fag of sorts. He was a brilliant little lad, his name was Chris but I called him Bambi because of the way he ran; he was a brilliant little fellow, he used to sharpen my pencils, do some of my English homework during his lunch hour and clean my shoes for me.

I was 11 when I had him so I didn't have him for very long sadly.

They say they got rid of it in the 80's. No they didn't.

Never herd that term before, but in a world of polical correctness the only use of the term fag is what it means today, where before to post ww2 people, my parents generation, a fag was another word for cigarette.

I'm not sure if its near or close to fagging as you know it in the UK, but many fraternities/sororieties have a dominate structure of Seniors over lower grades, but the things they do are pretty bazzar IMHO. When you get to be older in life, you wonder just how anyone would subject themselves to these kind of things. When I think about what they make you do in military boot camps, I've never allow myself to be subjected to what I went through then. When you are young, you have a different tought process, both allowing yourself to be the victim of it, and being perpitraitor. When you are young its some sort of acceptance or code of coming up through the ranks, so you submit to it. When you are an old poop like I am now, you would just say @#&k You jerk, step outside.

I remember cigarettes being called fags and also Gay didn't mean what is does today, amazing how things change..

In my school there were fags of all kinds.
