Seems like a leap.
It should say, "changing self is therefore a prerequisite to self awareness."

I think strings of symbols, which are just symbols, can point to truths but in themselves are not truths.

There can be no awareness without change. Self reference is a prerequisite to self modification and self modification is a prerequisite to self awareness. Self change IS self modification... At1with0 and Dissonator are so hopelessly melancholy that they cannot see the forest for the trees...
