Will all the boards termoil in other forums, I can't believe we don't have some good stuff to tell, like cool things you have done this summer, or vacations you took, fishing, camping. We all must have something good to say?

Me and Mrs G2 are only 4 weeks away from being Grandparents for the first time. Finally got my A/C fixed so we could drive out to visit them in Indio. Can you imagine being pregnant and dealing with 120 degree weather? Their house is so well built, you don;t even know when its hot outside til you step outside.(lucky for her) We always partake in the Casino Buffets when we visit, this time a very small donation to the slot machines. She can't be near the cigarettee smell.

We are going to take a little trip up the coast middle of this week, may stay someplace one night, near the ocean. Pismo Beach may be the place. I'd like to plan a trip someplace his fall. Hyway 49 in California, takes you up into the mining history, Placerville, near Yosemine National Park. Watching the National Geographic series on the National Parks, I would love to take a trip to Bryce and Zion, and fall would be a perfect time, when school is back in session. For us, Utah is only about 125 past Las Vegas (265 miles), so its not that far to drive. Staying at some of the great lodges they featured looks like a lot of fun. Both trips would be great to plan.

My mom and dad stayed in Pismo two or three weeks ago. My mom, being a director of surgical services, couldn't calm down for one lousy weekend and caused Hell for my dad as usual.

Congratz on being a granddad. Be sure to stay alive long enough for the kid to get the full effect of how you ol' timers work!

Thats too bad, Pismo is a really layed back area, so is San Luis Obispo. On thing I've never seen usually around Feb. in Pismo is a park that is home to millions of Monarch Butterflies. Huel Houser had an episode on them one night. a few year ago I was going up hyway 101 and passed a caravan of restored woodies, heading to Pismo for a convention. Must have be 30 of them, all works of art, from the 40's and 50's. For those who don;t know Pismo Beach is a area were off roaders and sand buggies goto drive in the Pismo sand dunes. Even if you don;t do that, its a neat beach community, tons of shops and places to eat, sights to see.

Same with California Aquarian, but our coastline is a lot different that Florida. We also have sandy beaches, but much of California coastline is rocky and very senic. Breathtaking in places. California also has all kinds of other year round weather places, like the deserts and our vast mountain areas, that rival the Rocky Mountians. We have Sequoia, Yosemine, Kings Cyn, Lassen I think almost more National Parks than any State. We really have it all from Death Valley at -242 to Mr. Whitney over 14,250. Highest and lowest points in continental USA. Within 2 hours you can swim in the ocean, ski in the mountians, or be in the deserts.

congrats on becoming grandparents!
And to John being an Uncle!

You'll have to let us know more when the baby comes. :P

We moved twice this summer.
And Jim's family went back to England.
And my Nan died.
Not exactly my favorite summer on record, now that I think about it.

Thanks Sandra, just caught up with your reply. Since I posted that, Heather had her most recient ultrasounds and we already know that her name will be Kaitlyn Jo when she arrives, but we got to see the most unbelievable images of Kaitlyn. We could see her face, her chubby cheeks, and nose clearly. It is so amazing what they can do today from when we had our kids. We had ultrasounds, but nothing like this. They can measure accuratly the length of bones, which help them determain certain things, and they tell Heather the babies weight to the ounce. In one of her ultrasounds they caught the baby with her thumb in her mouth.

Back to vacations, last year the National Geographic special on the National Park Lodges really made me think how cool it would be to goto some of the southwest lodges like Bryce and Zion, Grand Canyon, a few others in Utah, and go in the off season. Since we are retired and I have my own business, we can go places when nobody goes. One of the perks of getting older, we aren't limited to doing things during high volume weekends. Sorry just discovered I wrote about this a few weeks ago above--senior moment.
