Aussie Witt was my cousin. There was no one like Aussie, a unique individual who feared nothing but was a gentle soul. Rober Wells, Mickey Craft, JB Bradley, and Joe Turbeville and myself often fished in Aussie's fish ponds. He was always glad to see us having fun. We usually topped off the day with a cookout, laughing, joking, and having a great time. Living in the woods away from everyone, I always was glad to see Aussie drive up, not know what he would have up his sleeve on that day. He was generous, and one of the best friends I have ever had. Aussie never had any antomosity toward anyone.
Wendesday after noon Ausssie brought me 15 pounds of dressed quail. He knew I would enjoy the birds. We spent all day together and I will always relish my last day with my friend.
Fifteen minutes after leaving I lost my beloved friend. We are laying Aussie to rest this afternoon. I know Aussie will be looking down wondering what all the fuss is about. I know without a doubt that all of us will be together one day, fishing with the great fisherman of souls.
I love you Aussie and will never forget you. Don't catch all the fish before we get there.
