Why don't you tell everyone why the Hubble will be unable to snap some photos of the beast!!!
Love to see you make some sense of it all..............now that would be interesting.

I wonder if this will event will have effects on the Earth's orbit and indeed it's Axis and will this thing by its passage produce an EM field any hypothesis?

This may give you an answer Cole, but I'm sure you have something diabolical to reply. Do it quick becasue the astroid is heading twards your outhouse.

In a nutshell, I think the Hubble is for great distances in light years, anything close would be in and out of the lens pretty fast, or maybe too close for its focal distances at all. It may be able to see it approching, but when its between earth and the moon, would pass out of the lens real fast. Hubble can probably not move its lens that fast to follow it. If you remember the hubble repair was becasue the lens did not allow for great distances and needed to be corrected. I'm guessing that now limits things close up, which was not the intention of the Hubble. I think you probably understand you could not use a long lens on a camera to do a portrait with.

Well, the Asteroid has passed without event. Then again we could all be ghosts and we only think we are logged on to the internet Woohahahaha

I saw some pictures of the astroid, I think were real and computer generated. Not sure if it was from a ground telescope of the Hubble.

It can't take a clean clear pic of an object 200 k miles away. Just exactly how far away is the necessary distance for such a photo?

Again the best they can do is akin to a silent movie from the 30's in quality.

Maybe the real changer has issues.

Using the hubble to view the moon would be like using a 44 magnum to shoot a mouse 3 feet away.
