To me it also demonstrates that people also program themselves for what they want to hear. Will they look at things as the glass is half full or half empty, and be searching for loopholes to fill in the blanks themselves. This may be common when you are preprogramed to believe the negative in something or the positive. Your mind looks for you to find what feeds the side you hope it is in the outcome. Government conspiracies is a good example, people will program their minds in a one track way, and disregard what obvious questions are not answered or do not compute. With this example, you are really filling in the blanks or inferences, which many government conspiracy theories do. They never tell you exactly how, they make inferences, one after another, hoping you will fill in the blanks.
