Yup, been stealing music with that thing since it first came out. Before Limewire went down, that was my number 2 source for all my tunes.

Looks like they're trying to shut down p2p all together...well for a long while I guess.

According to the article, thepiratebay has 4 million registered users. Good thing there isn't enough room in jails for that many people. 8-)

Youtube has the technology to block lots of content from being public. It's not exactly easy to upload when they are sniffing your files.

Yeah, they'd like to shut down the whole system if they can. Sadly, LW was the first to go. I was never a big fan of torrenting. Any music I wanted to get was usually a single song or two, not a whole album, which is what torrenting usually forces you to do.

I'm hoping the good folks of the internet will rise up should the ACTA Bill or something similar actually make it to bill status. If Pirate Bay gets jeopardized, everyone is going to get in and fight the good fight.

Places like isohunt and thepiratebay are search engines.

Just as google shouldn't be held accountable for their search results leading to illegal activity, neither should these search engines. LW is different.

Perhaps they should crack down on Vuze and utorrent and such b4 they crack down on search engines.

But I'm no legal expert...

I'm still trying to swallow the pill that these piratebay dudes are actually going to serve time. I mean, like wow.

If you've got the money, and you're a butthurt musician or director, you can get your way.

I think it's bogus, but you never know.

I feel that Limewire was a search engine too. Someone was searching for someone else who had the file that person 1 needed. Limewire shouldn't be bothered with that, it just happened to connect the two and let them get to each other. It further illustrates the point that even if the real problem were person-to-person, no amount of coverage could be orchestrated because you can't watch every single information transaction. Lost cause and all that.

Which is why they should leave us pirates alone.

Maybe Carnivore or some such does record every information transaction but they can't use that to prosecute since that's obtained without a warrant nor would anyone like a US agency admit that they are already recording everything...Even down to chats between people.

Who knows?
