There's an Aztec monster uncannily similar in appearance to the Melkara of the south asian seas... Basically a bit of a whale like monster with the front of an elephant and the back of a whale or dugong... It was once actually a pretty common map decoration going way back to Roman mosaics, like the Beast of Nodens- so is the Sea Elephant real???
