Nope. Every military doc I've read, every general interview I've read about the subject of "interrogation techniques" say that they are ineffective. That statement is a bold faced lie.

Now trying to make a political issue out of all of it.

The CIA is a don't ask don't tell Governmental agency. Last I checked they act independently of any arm of the Government for legal reason. Such is/was the case with torture, you can bet on that. That's why the Bush administration claims that it was legal based on the findings of their legal counsel. A bit convenient don't ya think!

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Top Bush administration officials gave the CIA approval to use waterboarding, a controversial interrogation technique, as early as 2002, a Senate intelligence report shows.

On July 17, 2002, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, who later became secretary of state, said the CIA could proceed with "alternative interrogation methods," including waterboarding, when questioning suspected al Qaeda leader Abu Zubaydah.

The decision was contingent on the Justice Department's determining the method's legality. A week later, Attorney General John Ashcroft had determined the "proposed interrogation techniques were lawful," the report said

The the message of justification~~even almost 8 years later, amazing they still feel the need to do so.
