yes i haven't been here for many years. can someone point me to any info to read up on what happened? is there an archives site? none of the posts were able to be transfered over to here?

John has sent out emails on this. He upgraded The Black Vault to what you see now.

John said there was no way to transfer the old posts over, it would have taken way too much time and been too much of a pain.

well thats a shame as i know there are many competent programmers out there that could have done it. Oh well it's done now i guess. But for an actual upgrade i would have thought a commercial product like vbulletin forums would have been see as a good move considering the professional support it has and can offer whats already on offer here as a community system setup too. I just thought it would have been a more natural move considering how long this site has been around.

There just has to be a way, the old site had so much good and credible information. There must be a someone who can transfer the info, and if not, then just create an archive site. Either option would be better than starting over again.

Yes, if you get the right person it can easily be done. John would not loose any information at all if someone else did it as he would have a copy.

The good news is i guess that there will be an archive available. However the choice of using phpBB forum format? not sure how thats going to work in the longer term as opposed to something more robust and commercial like vbulletin or other commercial forums. The same thing will only happen down the track again in years to come.

I guess only time will tell again. Just good to see the doors open again.
