We have a community cupboard here in my little town.
Recently, I was driving around near it and I saw something happening there for the first time ever(for me). There was a long line of people waiting for food.
I have driven by there many times and never seen a line like this..out the door..down a ways.
Usually it's a couple homeless guys and maybe an old bag lady or a couple older shell shocked vets and/or some obvious drug addicts. (all in need of a little mercy from their fellow human beings)
But this time there was a line..with some young women and their kids with them in it.
All I could sadly think was, "it's a sign of the times"
My neighborhood STILL has a significant number of abandoned and being foreclosed upon houses in it.
Some had been bought (the first wave of foreclosers)..while others (the next wave)have now been abandoned.
I live inland, So-Cal
My state is fricken bankrupt (yet many of the richest people in the world live or own homes and property here)
