Texas Governor Perry Speaks Out Against Big Government in D.C.
The big government liberals in D.C., and in Austin, need to feel the ground shake. The big government liberals have been arrogant and unresponsive to the people for too long and we are tired of it. Irresponsible, out of control, spending by the US Government cannot be allowed to continue, along with the continued erosion of personal liberties.

Yes, talk of secession is making its way around the country. Good.

Except no one will miss Texas.

But it is a good move regardless, I didn't expect Texas to be the first one to step up to the plate.

Don't bet on that. Texas is already the fastest growing state as free thinking people are abandoning their socialist state to move to Texas, like California, Michigan, NY, etc. The US will definitely miss the economy that Texas generates, not to mention the US losing its biggest source of military personnel and government/mil contractors. Many industries will lose big time. And Texas will get wealthier. All we have defend against is Mexico. We can cover that with a few hand grenades, RPGs, and a couple dozen hummers.

Ah dang it, I thought it would be unAmerican to contribute to the disintegration of the American Union? I guess eloping conservatives reside in Texas.

Give it four years half the country will be ready to do the same thing.

I have a lifetime of knowledge and experience to back that up. The sources would be too varied and stretch across decades. This subject ain't something new and lots of people have discussed it including tv and radio news stations. "This ain't my first rodeo."

EDIT: Wouldn't free thinking people, who see Texas as one of the main sources of religion in the country, stray away from it and go to places where they'd be more accept for their much more liberal views?

You do know that California leads the states in defense contracts recieved, as well as number of military personnel enlisted, as well as being responsible for the largest GSP in the US, right?

None that matter though. And Texas would be spending whatever money it had getting water should it ever try to become an independent nation. Canada would probably be the only one who'd consider selling to them, since the US wouldn't jump at the idea of sustaining a state that just broke off.

I don't need a source to prove what I already know. I thought I made that clear. I've been seeing people moving here in ever larger numbers for decades. They show up in schools. They show up at work. They show up in public places. And the ones that come here from socialist states all say the same thing. Their state was taken over by left wingers, out of touch with reality and the people, and they got sick of it. The only thing holding back more people from moving to Texas is the weather. Look at the state's population increase in the last 40 years. Its huge. You can go to the state government's website and find that info quite easily. Just search using demographic terminology. Look at the 40 year projection from 2000! That'll put a nail in this coffin of a debate.

Texas is an individualist state. Why would anybody, other than a collectivist, need to stray away from Texas??? Texas has lots of liberals, about the same as every other state.

OK, fine. Texas is ONE OF the biggest sources of gov/mil contractors, etc... The point remains. The US would suffer with the loss of Texas. And California is seeing a mass exodus, AGAIN. That's why Oregon and Washington are filling up.

Not true. Texas has plenty of water. Water will only become a problem if the rate of population growth continues to accelerate. And the "US" federal government would not stop trade with Texas irregardless of secession. You seem to be implying that you believe that the entire US hates Texas. If so you are sadly mistaken. Texas has good relations with all its neighbors and the other states. The bottom line is that Texas is one of the most popular states in the USA, including internationally.
