Take a look at the history of this city and you will find some interesting things. Flint, Michigan is in serious trouble, but its troubles are not new. Flint's troubles began waaaay back in the 1970's. What happened? Flint originally had a city charter that was drafted in 1929 which stipulated a city commission style mayor form of government. But in 1974 Flint replaced that charter with a new one switching to a "strong" mayor form of government. The newly elected mayor, James W. Rutherford, took on new duties never before assumed by the mayor including the downtown development authority. Well well well, did it work? Nnnnnnope. Massive failure this strong mayor design is and other cities which have adopted this style have also fallen on hard times as well, and long before the current economic crisis. Big government statists love the "strong" mayor (strong arm dictator is more like it) and look where that has led? Flint is now having to bulldoze large portions of the city because the people are fleeing. Great job mayor! Way to go sport.

Now the US is switching to a "strong" President form of government (dictator), just like Flint. And what do you think the results of that will be? Obama wants to start bulldozing ~50 other cities.
