I just watched this British Horror Comedy Flick for the 12th time and I never get bored with it...
Think of it as Blackadder directed by George A. Romero and you'll get the general theme of the flick !
Shaun (Simon Pegg) is your below average thirtysomething who seems to have no real goal in life. Lacking any real ambition, he drives his long-suffering girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) around the bend. He seems to pay more attention to his fellow loser pals and housemates Ed (Nick Frost)and Pete (Peter Serafinowicz). Shaun is otherwise a decent enough sort. He soon realises how much Liz means to him when the dead begin to walk the earth. Now it's a race against time for Shaun to spring to the rescue not just of the girl he loves, but of his dear sweet Mum as well. After watching this you'll never look at "Dawn of the Dead" the same way again.
PLOT SUMMARY
Filled with everyman characters that we can relate to, SHAUN also mocks the Social Welfare state in the UK and how its Gun Laws complicate things for Shaun and his pals ! But Shaun grabs a Winchester from the Pub of the same name and starts blasting away !
Shaun also refuses to turn his back on his slovelnly but loveable pal Ed despite the uptight protestations of his Bird Liz and the Yuppie twit Peter. Liz's "Proper" pals Di and David illustrate the Sheeple common in the UK who refuse to stand up for themselves no matter how threatening the situation is...
My fave scenes are when Shaun and his pal start whipping LP's at the two zombies in their garden....
Or the scenes in his Step Dad's Jag...
Or when the take a shortcut through twenty garden fences..
Do check it out and prepare to larf yer arse off mates !
