How do we know that the amount of matter in the universe is finite if we've only had a finite amount of time to observe it?

Why is it man is so driven to find the end of the universe, but seems to care less about the one place we live in? Our Earth! The matter that matters the most is what we can touch right here. Seems rather ludicrous we search for life in other galaxies, and do nothing about the lives going extinct on this planet everyday.

And don't forget that the Sharks were defeated by the Kings in game 7.

Conversely, if mankind continually gets caught up in the minutia of everyday life and our immediate surroundings, we couldn't possibly progress and make landmark discoveries.

But those discoveries might hasten our collective deaths. At least according to greeney2.

"How do we know that the amount of matter in the universe is finite?"

At this time we have no way of knowing. All information points to the multiverse being without limit. It must also be without time and by extension without size. The limitations of our consciousness now prevents us from a true vision of reality. Our mental processes developed in a world of phenomena, later we discovered that our scences are not a reliable recorder of all the phenomena that exists.

There are persons who are filled with desire to know the answers to the 3 most important questions that can be asked.

!. Who or rather what are we?

We are composite beings. atma buddhi manas, body mind spirit. plenty to choose from.

2. How did we get here? The development of the man and this earth.

3. Where are we going? or What is going to happen? or Where does this all end?

They will be looking for answers so long as these questions exist.

We don't know that but it makes for an interesting theory for our universe. It's kind of silly to propose that, considering all of this was created from nothing to begin with. As far as we know, anyway.

Infinity is a matter of perspective I believe. What we don't know presents us with all kinds of possibilities. To a child, thus to a grownup's wonderment, what he doesn't know shows up in different colors on his drawings. Like us being a young race, we dare to comprehend what we can't just yet, thus manifesting in our many theories about the universe. So does it it really matter at the moment if the universe is finite or not?

If the universe were infinite, it would math math a lot more relevant.
