They actually did not ask for gender before I do not think. it just Specifed Husband and Wife, and the gender was assumed, but a birth certificate had to be shown. Civil unions I do not believe specifies Either Husband or wife, it specifies Spouse #1 and Spouse #2, and if same sex marriage is approved they may drop the Husband and Wife thing totally. That is why Prop 8 began, because it was always a given and assumed, hence NORMAL before this, it did not need to specify it. So Prop 8 clarified it, Man and Woman.

If we are in a new age where this is all considered Constitutional, so be it, we all live with it, and honor it. However, this has to turn back all the old taboos of having multiple spouses if it is a situation of consenting adults.

For the record, I am not against polygamy but what we're talking about here isn't polygamy. We're talking about two consenting adults of the same gender getting married.

What we are talking about is what was once considered normal, now isn't. It was not normal for same sex marriage, nor polygamy, nor incest. Now it all has to be reconsidered and rewritten.

Why?

Liberal attitudes that nothing is wrong with anything, and anything goes. Family values and morals have changed, as what were sins are now so common, they are just considered normal behavior. It is almost non-existent! Adultery is no big deal now, but we are in an age of sexually transmitted disease is at a high, but that is normal. When the President of the United States can disgrace hallowed ground of the White House, his wife and daughter, and trash a young intern half his age, and have every liberal in the country just says, "He is just a normal man", we do not know right from wrong anymore.

If it is something your Mother would have slapped your face for, now she would go to jail.

So in other words the reason that all has to be reconsidered and rewritten has nothing directly to do with gay marriage.

Don't you think laws should sometime be called into question? If we were Rome, would the law of a millennium ago be fully suitable for us to use?

That is a continual process in our legal system with many laws, but the one driving force is what I said above. As time passes, the Conservative far right, is moving more to the left. Not just in our laws, but our entire culture.

Times are not the same as they use to be in many many laws, and in trends of our culture. Things like dress codes disappeared, which is a good reflexion on the way times have changed. Examples: My Dad was an engineer, and went to work everyday in a suit, white shirt, and tie. Now engineers go to work in bluejeans. People use to dress up for dinner out, or other events. Men would wear suits, women would were dresses, even to sporting events. Films of old boxing matches or baseball games,all the men dressed in suits. Kids would wear appropriate nice school cloths, slacks and collared shirts to school and church. In the east, when I was a kid, that was required, but when I came to california, kids could wear bluejeans and tee shirts. Now, kids can even wear Now shorts. Tee shirts/shorts are Normal cloths for eating at what used to require Men to wear a jacket and tie, to very expensive restraunts. Manners, proper edicate, and table manners, are gone. times have changed to much more lax, and acceptable, a lack of standards is prevailing in every part of our culture.
