For now he remains somewhat of a mystery and no one is really talking about him. Meanwhile, Gun Control is getting all the attention:



How often did Lanza play the most violent games? How did he feel about them? How did they affect him? Did they desensitize him to violence or provoke blood lust? We don’t know, and most likely never will.

Did he really have Asperger’s? Was he diagnosed with anything in addition to the “developmental disorder” — or was that just a palatable-sounding phrase his family and family friends used to avoid invoking scarier, more threatening terms like “mental illness”? We don’t know what lay behind the extremely inward-turned behavior his classmates saw, or the murderous violence that erupted last week. Was it extreme, toxic anxiety? Paranoia? Voices? Righteous rage? We may never know.

What I see as a common threads among many of these things are age, isolation, social problems, no friends, and a history of emotional/mental problems. Young males not too far from his age seems to be a common thing. Maybe this boy had aspergers to some degree, but it probably was only a part of his total picture. The dynamics of his Mother and Father, an older brother who may not have had any emotional problems. They were not a poor income family if Mom is getting 240K alimony, how much did Dad make a year? Columbine, the kids were from affluent income homes, but were high school age. Last week the Portland mall shooting he was just out of high school. Some have been in College, or in their early 20's.

All the focus is on gun control, but millions of gun owners do not go on rampages. Many of those who have gone on these rampages also were obsessed with the violent video games. How far is too far in the things we entertain ourselves with, in video games and violent movies?

One thing for certain, Mom was know to be a very nice person--but nobody knows what went on at home. Dad and Brother both do, and there is a reason they divorced and reason brother lives with Dad. When the details of the gun storage and access to them is known, Mom's total negligence may be a huge factor. Like many gun accidents, or tragedy in the home, it many times is found loaded guns or easy access to guns and ammo as a cause. She knew he was mentally imbalanced, and should have hidden, locked up, or had trigger locks on all of them, and herself knowing where the keys were. If he had not killed her, my guess is she will have wished he did knowing her poor decisions of parenting, allowed him the access.

who was Adam Lanza ?

No one ,he only became someone because of amercias gun laws...Military style weapons are a shame amercia has to face .
The reality is America handed Lanza teh gun to commit the crimes, just like they let terrorists on 9/11 flights...when teh hell will tehy even attempt to admit it , they know the honest and best solution but that answer is just too hard to condsider seriously boo hoo

America also has handed guns to upstanding citizens who have allowed our nation to hold any potential tyrannical govt threat in check. The right to bare arms in order to prevent a dictatorship like the Nazi party (who murdered millions of people) hugely outweighs the number of deaths attributed to guns.

Lanza was not a "no one". He was a human being with his own story that needs to be understood so we can try to prevent these incidents from happening again. We must take an educated and scientific look into his life so that we can diagnose the issue rather than jumping to unproven solutions. Lanza could have carried out an attack like this without guns... banning them would be like treating the symptom of a disease, not the underlying problem.
