How can you reason people out of positions they didn't reason themselves into?

I have an old book written by an omniscient being who says you're wrong.

You don't have much to worry about, the Supreme Court will undoubtedly side the way you are talking, both in the California State and Federal Supreme courts. If you do not believe those courts are a reflexion of the Conservative or Liberal stance on our laws, you only need to consider just this last year, they backed the Westborow Baptists, as protesting funerals in a despicable way Constitutional. Common decency is apparently not a law, nor are most other matters regarded as moral and ethical issues. Some may regard this a protection of our Freedom of Speech(the westborrow protests), but to me it is a travesty of Justice, when our highest courts, can not know right from wrong. Both courts are tilted towards the Liberal application of our laws. Point being not all the Justices have agreed to a slam dunk 5-0,7-0, 0r 9-0 vote in the matters, so there are sound legal premises for both sides of the issues, as the voters were clearly divided over, down the middle.

Yes, I am fully confident that eventually, this kind of discrimination will be seen for what it is.

And yes, that is finally learning right from wrong. There is no legitimate reason why gay marriage is "wrong," unless we're going to say that Leviticus should replace the Constitution.

Are you willing to say that?

I hope we live in a country that favors individual rights above socialist idealism. Otherwise, your christian "morals" would dictate to everyone and overrule legitimate non-christian thinking.

Besides, Greene, if this were a theocracy by way of democracy, that might seem great if the majority were your religion or close enough, but what happens if the majority changes? By carefully keeping religion out of government as much as possible, we ensure a secular haven in which Greene's religion is treated as equal to the rest of them. In essence, we're protecting religion from itself.

Sounds fair to me.
