Capicorn,
Wow!!! Well said. And I agree. I watch movies but am very careful about what someone tries to hook me on or get me to buy a plethora of products spun off a movies popularity.
It is the same with sports brainwashing and product sales.
I have no interest in purchasing a very overpriced jacket or umbrella or whatever the next nonsense someone is selling with a team logo in order to make a social statement.
Same thing with movies.
It took me some time to figure out the brainwashing angle of Star Trek and Star Wars or whatever nonsesne they are want to sell to us next.
It reminds me of the bright colours which shout out at one from the aisles at the toy store or toy department. "Take Me...buy Me." "Dont think but emote and buy me ..NoW!!"
I noted the same curb appeal in bright lights when I took a trip to Las Vegas..bright colours and bling. As if we are children and need this curb appeal rather than knowing the true value of the products.
I also note the same bright colours and curb appeal at the detergent aisle in the grocery stores...like appealing at some level to children. Colours stimulate emotions and often prevent thinking.
Movies and television do the same thing.
ONce I caught on to the Star Wars/Star Trek angle for a new world...I quickly separated from this kind of thinking and put a mark on it.
I have also extended this mark to much of what comes out of Hollywood and television.
While it is also propaganda..I sometimes find that the commerical technique is much more intelligent in its operation that much of the regular television programming.
And to me that is not saying much about television.
I too also have a certain respect for Atheists..but on other of their positions not at all.
For many of them are mostly emotions...and hollywood.

I'm afraid that it is foolish to mock what electronic media can teach (or fail to teach) yet place a great deal of faith in what books can teach. Lies on paper are just as common as lies in TV and movies. And I'm afraid the lies in books have blinded you to some extent.
So you have some secret books which disturb you. DO you want us to clap?
Dont fall apart on me now. Hang in there at1with0
However...you are very correct about books ..even magazines.
One of the nicest magazines with fabulous photographic quality is National Geographic. But I am careful about what I buy in subject material from them as well. There are lots of nice magazines out here who are selling a lie or an illusion...a deception.
Quite correct.
And so too is Capicorn ably illustrating the same point about television and movies.
So how about our leadership..are they selling Idealism or real working concepts and principles which benefit people and not government??
Idealism...verses simplicity...Kant, Hume, Spinoza...Plato...et al. Idea stuff.
To my limited knowlede of history ...the Communists have been one of the biggest sellers and promoters of Idealism..followed by Socialists...
I call this "Bee Hiveism." The perfect utopia...ant farm. All stamped out like on a xerox machine.
Made me think of Frank Hurlberts utopian book years ago.."The Holstrum Hive."
Same with his Dune series.
Eastern thinking and philosophy masked as science fiction. And definitely teaching a religion.
Hurlberts mentioning of an "Orange Catholic Bible" was the give away.
Nonetheless..lies are indeed on paper...and in many other forms out here. It is up to us to learn the tools to decipher the lie and then ask ourselves the essence of the lie..the pattern...the very nature of the lie and where it intends to go or take us.
There are people out here who are quite capable of doing this and are now teaching others this line of thought.
This too is found in the "Ever War" for people who can think further than a movie and television standard of emotions.
I have been telling a number of people about this lecture series on the "Ever War." Some of them are finally getting around to listening to it. As it is a very long series...it takes some time to get into them and along to the pattern of thinking taking place.
But I am finally getting some feedback on it.
Most of the people who listened to it have never heard anything quite like it..even from their ministers. And definitely they have never heard this from televison/movies and the media or leadership...even government financed public education. It gives them new tools by which to examine the world around them...and question. Tools in thinking and understanding which most of the media and education out here try to prevent us from discovering.
Again...Thanks to all for their posts,
Orangetom
