If something happened to like my family and they all died or something, then yes very much, would I want to forget. I would jump at the chance at a new life without a past. Even good memories are painful when you don't have those people to share them with. Plus a thing like that happening to me, would eat away at me like a cancer...or I'd drink myself to death.
But other than that extreme happen-chance .... no I wouldn't my whole memory wiped.

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" comes to mind.. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/ (you just KNEW this would be where I would go immediatly with this convo, right? sardonically lol) seriosuly though, we are created by both nature, nurture and life expereince..all that has happened to us..IS US I think of thos epeople that have amnesia..for whatever reason, electro shock therapy, head trauma, emotional trauma, disease..thye have lost a part of themselves (yet, because they do not remember, probably don't even miss it)It's kinda tragic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwQVsB6k24Q

I used to think that was a solution. Now I realize it isn't. Forgetting doesn't prevent or erase anything. One must make peace with experience, painful as it can be.
