Would you forget if you could?

Jessica glamors Hoyt at his request to forget he ever met her or his former best friend, Jason.

It got me to thinking. Would you erase certain things from your mind if you could?

I think I might, but I wouldn't want entire people erased from my memory, no. Not like Hoyt.

If something happened to like my family and they all died or something, then yes very much, would I want to forget. I would jump at the chance at a new life without a past. Even good memories are painful when you don't have those people to share them with. Plus a thing like that happening to me, would eat away at me like a cancer...or I'd drink myself to death.

But other than that extreme happen-chance .... no I wouldn't my whole memory wiped.

Are we our memories?

Hard to say what we are, eh?

If we allow our memories to dictate our actions and attitude, then we become alienated from possibility.

I used to think that was a solution. Now I realize it isn't. Forgetting doesn't prevent or erase anything. One must make peace with experience, painful as it can be.

Either way, it speaks of a conscious agent, don't it?
