You're boring, dull, have no sense of humour, and seem to be proud of it.
Congratulations, I guess.
You must live a thrilling life
This is very unintelligent and unscientific in its intrinsic nature. It is also telling of a lack of experience in this world....of working and thinking behind a safety net provided by the risk taking of others.
In short it is provincial.
Do not ever be smug about the value of a sense of humor and not taking the world seriously.
For there are indeed people out here who know real excitement and never want to go back there again...and they know this on intimate terms. These people do not get excited over the next television program or movie to come down the "De evolutionary Pipeline."
They do not choose to live second hand lives through books or movies or humor. They have been out here where the edge of the razor blade is very very sharp. Where the only thing between this world and the next is their skills, knowledge, and the same from their team mates...along with a prayer.
Only a public education in altered states of consciousness can make one smug about the intrinsic value of fun and a sense of humor...or put another way...boredom.
Theses people who have this knowledge..will happily choose boredom every time over cheap and artificial excitement.
Greeny2,
Exactly correct...glad..to see someone else knows it..intimately.
Don't climb on your high horse yet Humphreys. OT is not entirely wrong that the TV has always been a bit of a brainwasher, at least in the products we buy, politics, social trends, and news. The news had this country all thinking what kind of lunitic must the Colorado shooter parents must be like, by misquoting her statements about "You have the right person", and millions of people including myself, were thinking, Mom knows something we don't know about him. We hear and see one little things and it becomes Gospel. Isn't that a lot like the internet, spreading boloney stories, or incorrect propaganda about religion, people read it, and believe its true.
That said, OT takes the TV/movie theory to the extreme, but you aren't much better the way you group all Christians into one bag, and all religions bad, never having a positive thing to say to anyone. So I'm not so sure about your perspective of reality, when it comes to your "logical" critical thinking about religion, its all very one sided and warped in your own way.
I am not against movie and television per se...Indeed...I watch some movie and television myself.. but am not interested in much of the drivel out there or the pattern of identifying myself by the products I consume...or the programs I watch.
I particularly note when someone has mostly a television and movie education...and little real experience in life...high on emotions and short on basic and even civil disciplines and is proud of this provincialism.
The problem I see is that this group of people I note ...is rapidly growing. I happen to think it is being carefully and deliberately cultivated..for votes...by the body politic...ie..public education.
Do I like "warm and fuzzy feelings??" No not really..I prefer simple confidence. The disturbing thing is that many more of these emotionally immature types are beginning to show up in the world of nuclear work...fueling/refueling.
Does that give you the warm fuzzies?? Or would you rather have confidence??
The only thing I thought about the shooting in Colorado..initially..was what I think here since I stopped going to walk in movies...that someone there should have had a concealed weapon and the death toll would have been much lower.
Here they have put the no concealed carry logo on the doors which is their right to do so as a private business...and I recognize that right.
But in carrying out this policy...their right..they left hundreds of people prey to such predators..and the body politic who will whore out a whole nation over this issue.
It is to be expected in such an overly emotional world that the media would use this to prey on a safety/security minded people who mostly make decisions based on emotions and boredom....where someone else is automatically by default assigned to take risks out of life for them.
But if you know..intimately..it doesn't make good nonsense...but it makes excellent politic.
Thanks for your post Greeny2.
