all worthy reads, I say

Wow an impressive list of material, thanks. You and my wife would get on real well.........only she reads certain authors, and certain type content, to the tune of 2-3 a week, every week or every year.........something I envy.

She presented me with a great read this past Friday called " Into Thin Air " by Jon Krakauer

I finished it up early on Monday morning. I had seen bits and pieces of the Docs on the crux of the Book, but had never actually read the account in full.

In my opinion the book is an excellent illustration of everything Jon seemed to feel during the experience as it ties into the things people take for granted,as well as those they hold most dear in the very depths of their souls.

It's about the tragedy on Mt Everest in May of 96 and the effect it had on those who survived and the kinds of people who climb mountains.

No wonder to me as to why it's sold over 3 million copies....

I envy the kinds of people who survived, but admire those who did not!

A non fiction that should be recommended reading especially for those who are " all hat and no cattle "

Saw the story about the dead climbers, 4 this time around and immediately thought of the book. Almost to the day. Did you see the pics another climber shot of the insanity?

Even I can see that they were way way too many people on the mountain. Many probably very lucky to have survived.
How about the clown packing his bike along to the summit? I can just imagine where he's from.

I had heard there was like, a record number of climbers this year, and things were getting 'backed up"

also...and unrelated..but related to the thread, in general..
a book I am reading right now is,
"Swagger", by Lisa Bloom
also, "Think", by the same author

Right now I am reading Frank Herbert's Dune for the first time. Before that I read all the X-Files books (Antibodies, Ruins, Skin, Whirlwind, Goblin, and Ground Zero).

Another good one I read a while back called The Human Disguise by James O'Neal. I saw it at a Dollar General one time, and the premise seemed interesting, If you like future, some what post apocalyptic with a splash of conspiracy I would suggest this title.

Non fiction -- a book called She Comes First by Ian Kerner. If the subject, which the title means literally, interests ypu, it's a well written and respectfully tasteful book. It taught me a lot that I didn't know.
