Some people think that aliens created plagues to wipe out humans, in the past, but it seems they had as much luck getting rid of us as we have getting rid of cockroaches and ants. I think at some point their governments must have stepped in and stopped whatever was going on, lucky for us.

I imagine every contact involves great risk. the plagues might be extra terrestrial
in nature from prior alien contact contamination. the strains self replicate

Never begin by quoting Von Daniken. The man was full of crap and most of his so-called "proof" is either bogus or readily explainable by other means than "Chariots of the Gods."

Camels still live in South America...the llama, the alpaca, the vicuna, and the guanaco are all members of the "camel family" and the petroglyhs show THEM. Not the African variety. Didn't Von Daniken tell you that?

Not too surprising. I mean, he didn't precisely LIE when he called them "camels". They ARE. But he was intentionally misleading his readers. Something he does a LOT.

As for the lions.Probably this is the American Cave Lion which originated in North America (not Africa, sorry) and which became extinct around 10,000 years ago. Remains of this animal have been recovered from the La Brea Tar Pits and it is known to have penetrated into South America.

As for man...he was here as early as 50,000 years ago so petroglyphs representing this animal would not be unusual, now would they?
