The big jackpot was suppose to have 3 winners sharing $640M, but it occured to me with that much money at stake, and the State in financial crisis, what if nobody hit again, and the 3 winners is all just a scam, to get out of paying? Claim 3 winners and a payoff, and who keeps the money? They say one person has emerged who worked at McDonalds, but now a controversy has come up co-workers claimed they went in togather in a group buying of the tickets. What a mess that would be, and how many times have you done that at work? What if you went into the group pool, and also bought yourself tickets privately and that was the ticket that hit the big one. How would you ever tell those in the pool your private ones hit, and all the group tickets lost? They would probably kill you over that much money. When we did it at work, we did made copies of all the tickets in the Zerox machine, so everyone had their own copy, no disputes, but thats becasue we have them all over the plant to copy from. Most people do not have that at work.
It would not surprize me if the winners were a scam, if it was unlikly no body really hit the big one again. However, if that happened imagine what the ticket sales would have been and the jackpot, would have gone to 1 billion. This week over 1.5 billion tickets were sold. But what if the ticket sales flopped, and they did not sell enough tickets? Not sure if the payout can ever be more than total dollars taken in, however when the state is several billion dollars in deficiet, they could be real creative with the payouts, and the corruption involved, who knows. Like a ponzi scam, the money doesn't really exist, they use new incoming money to keep it going. Maybe the lotto is just a ponzi scam, and the total money doesn't exist.
