Yes it is tragic, and terrifying to say the least. Having been thru this with the Northridge quake it was devestating to this entire city. People in collapsed buildings, it was total darkness as my daughter and I sat it out in the car until daylight, for fear of walking on to fallen electical lines. All we herd were car screaching, crashes, and the only light we could see was the burning gas line main, illuminating the sky several miles away. We began to hear many helocopters all over the place, we knew it was really really bad, and it was. Widespread damage for 20 mile radius and beyond. We had gathered up the dogs and put them into the other car, all the block walls came down, just sat in the dark waiting til it was safe and having aftershocks shake the care like it was on a rough road. We could visibly see our entire block whobble like a washboard duing the aftershocks, and all the cars shook and moved like driverless vehecles sitting in the driveway. Really an eiree sight to see such gound movement visibly. It was horrible, and I know these tornados were horrifying and terrible for them too. Everyone say a prayer for them, and all of you in the area including Cole and Bluesman.

As I am reading this thread, I feel numb, and shocked, and wondering what I can do to help. Prayer seems such a trifle thing when so many are going through such excruciating pain, emotionally and mentally, and physically. I will have faith in prayer, and hope that those who need strength , receive it, those who need consolation, receive it, and those who need help of any kind will find hearts open and ready to help.

I am not a person of great wealth, but I would love to help out financially in some way, besides prayer. I would appreciate an inside track on a TRUSTWORTHY organization , that is dedicated to helping these victims , and will not use funds inappropriately. After I have read about some of the wages that certain people make with big charity organizations, I am leary to send money to them. I'm really not into donating to a million dollar(or even over 100,000) a year salary for some crony that sits at his desk for two hours a day. *sighs*

I barely ever watch the news on television these days, and go days without looking on the net for latest news, so this is the first I have heard of this, and I only noticed the thread today. My condolences , prayers and well wishes for all the souls suffering through this, in so many ways.

I do not know for sure but you may be able to donate to the Ameican Red cross, and specify to earmark the money only for this tornado relief. Not sure what percent on the dollars is actual real use money, but it seems to be the best way to give, for things like Haiti and the Katrina disasters.

Text "Branson" to 41010 to Donate to Tornado Relief Efforts

By: KOLR10 Newsroom
Updated: March 5, 2012

(Branson, MO) -- Text messages can go a long way for recovery efforts in Branson.

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks says you can now text "Branson" to 41010 to make a $10 gift to its TaneyCounty affiliate. The money will go to the Branson Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund.

Gifts can be texted regardless of cell service provider. All gifts made to the Branson Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the IRS.

The Community Foundation of Taney County plans to create a grant panel to make decisions on the use of the funds based on where needs or gaps in funding arise in the recovery process.

Your world as you know it, isn't what it seems..........If I was so inclined and had the time, means, energy.............I'd write a book about it and give it away for free.

FEMA denied the residence of Harrisburg Illinois ans surrounding areas low interest Government loans. Said that the level of destruction didn't rise to FEMA guidelines for relief, or something of that nature.

BUT YES.............PLEASE send your money to Haiti, or Japan, or anywhere else by simply TEXTING......YADA YADA YADA..........

As a people.........will we ever really get it? EVER!!!

Simply amazing how easily the masses are so easily mislead.

It's one thing to volunteer your time and energy, quite another to truly give of your self. THIS COUNTRY sometime loses sight of that and I find that to be a massive embarrassment.

We are too full of ourselves to ever understand such things, UNTIL THEY TOUCH US PERSONALLY............Then for some strange reason we find religion..
JMHO..

Cole

PS. It hailed yesterday.............covered the ground, took many many Oak flowers and leaves off of the trees, destroyed anything already growing in the garden...No big deal.....just more money down the drain..Local idiots stopping in the street thinking that would save their cars from damage..one dumbass tried to pull under one of my large pines in the front yard.. I feel for people..........really really feel for em. A very small rogue storm killed a man in SO Illinois yesterday. Out of the blue, just reached down and punched his ticket.

What are the FEMA guidelines for the threshold of recieving FEMA aid? They sent checks out for $3400 immediatly to anyone with a Northridge zip code with an apartment number, which really urked me. I worked with idiots who laughed about and kept the money, saying they were not even affected, while those who need it, like me, couldn't get FEMA for months to come out and look at our damage. The same idiots flocked down to the free givaway programs for food and water they also did not need, while many people slept in thier yards.

We never see hail where I live in California, it just hardly ever happens in our kind of weather. Feeling uncomfortable about pushing on, I would probably do the same thing, pull over and wait it out, thinking less damage would occur to my vehicle standing still or under a tree, than driving thru falling hail. I would also not want my windshield broken out while driving down the street just to get another mile or two, it doesn't make sence not to stop JMHO.

The hail was pea to marble size, probably not enough to damage anything other than young plants, shoots, flowers ETC. Large hail knocks out windows, damages roofs, destroys siding on homes, flattens crops, and oh yes...knocks windshields, said and back glass out of vehicles. Last Month it did thousands of dollars worth of damage to some relatives, cars, trucks and homes North of where I live. I posted a pic. 3-K -5-K worth to each vehicle caught in the line of fire. Makes no difference if driving or sitting still in a car park.

The IDIOT who blocked traffic, causing people to attempt to pass on a very very busy road, just needed to drive another mile and he would have been home free. No hail just up the road a bit. These storms are isolated in nature, small yet violent. It's the super cells that can be super killers.

Anyway FEMA are hand picked, rules are for who they say they are. If you have money based on location, good homeowners insurance, THEY KNOW ALL THESE THINGS---------Then you're sh*t out of luck unless you've near dead....

JMHO........Yet there are far too many events that prove this to be more fact than fiction.

Harrisburg was ( a large portion was ) completely destroyed.....what level that rises to is obviously beyond my grasp.
