Yesterday morning @ 4:55 or so AM...Took out Harrisburgh Illinois. Lots of damage and several deaths, hundreds injured. The track of this storm was just south of my local area. I have resigned myself to the fact that it's only a matter of time. No not wishing for it, hoping for it, or wanting to see it...................It's just a feeling based on years of weather experience. Something is different, and these past to years prove that very well.

15 Tornadoes in the immediate tri-state area yesterday morning.........all did some sort of damage. Crazy nuts.

And the beat goes on: Ever since NBC purchased the Weather Channel they have embraced the sensationalism associated with gathering eyeballs for ratings and ad revs........I just love the guy who came up with the torcon thing...

It's my opinion that under the guise of safety these folks have producers who simply live for such events. It's disgusting...............and the public so dumbed down, now beyond hope, UNWITTINGLY FEEDS THEM FREE INFORMATION via social media.........more fuel for embellishment.

May I ask you: Why not take some of their ill gotten gains and build people in Tornado alley some storm shelters, or update the warning system ( warning sirens ) maybe update the radar collection systems..........do some good as opposed to profit off of complete grief...and insane stress...

Argue all you want about the good they do..............then explain their reality series on everything from soup to nuts doom and gloom weather related crap!!! I'm all ears.

we had one go by our place feb 29 at 115 in the morning. it took out kimberling city inn where john stayed at back in 03 and 09 when they where back here to do
ufo hunters. the rooms they had are kindling right now.
the strip got hit in branson really bad...
about a mile of damage right down the middle.
it was interesting this leap year to say the least.

Wow, thats amazing.

That's amazing. Yeah, I remember staying there with my crew during UFO Hunters (and of course when I lectured). We walked down towards the right of the picture (Bob White was a trooper - not so warm out there) to try and do the interview outside. It didn't work too well outside, so we moved inside.

I am glad you are okay, Larry.... I'm thinking about you and send my best.

We have the earthquakes to contend with, and the midwest has these tornados which are unherd of in California. We see a very rarly, a very small occurance or what they call a water spout offshore, but I do not think they are even close to catagory 1. I think they may really be what we call dust devils, but a bit larger. Most times either do no damage or a few shingles.

My only thought is this one:

Earthquakes are sinister, Tornadoes are pure evil. Give me sinister any day of the week and twice on Sunday..my druthers are neither, and NEVER.

Wind is an amazing force, once harnessed something no one can ever defend..I'm very curious about all of that sort of stuff.

Anyway........big squall line setting up tomorrow afternoon...you can watch it LIVE on NOAA..........I know I will but I'll have the safety of my family in mind as I do!!!

And just so anyone interested wants to learn something. Wind does little to remove roofs unless it hurricane force and above...............the updraft or LIFT of a near passing Twister will lift an entire structure, let alone a roof.

Coroner now releasing names of those killed in Harrisburg....So sad..

we where really lucky where i live. the dam thing was only a 1/4 mile way from us and im outside listening to it coming towards us..lol
yeah i know i aint to bright but this is my 5th one up close and personal now.
i was in southern illinois in 72 i think it was and we had 60 some in the area with a wall cloud you wouldnt believe.
i was trucken then and on a job digging up an underground fuel tank.
we got it loaded and my weather radio went off. said there was serious weather coming in. they werent lieing that day.
i take off for the shop with this fuel tank in the back chained down..look in my mirrors and i see telephone poles and trees falling down behind me.
that sucker chased me all the way to the shop..we jumped out and headed for the shelter just in time...i could still run then..lol
all i could think about was that dam fuel tank with a 15 foot vent pipe sticking up in the air and lighting all around..now that would have been a ride if we had got popped
lost some of our house to that storm. windows and some roof parts.
you never know about tornados. they can happen almost anywhere, even in california. was one in downtown denver one year..
they are talking more bad weather for the middle of next week.
i thought you would get a kick out of seeing that room ya was in john..not much left.

Yep, you've a fine memory there bluz...I remember that day Like it was yesterday. I was in middle school in the big O....lol April of 1974....of all outbreaks ever recorded that one is in the top 3.

I when to college with a guy from Brandenburg KY...He tells a story about seeing the bottom of the Ohio river as the Twister cut across. Human limbs scatter about the tree tops and such. His sister lost her period for over a year after seeing some of those things. It's the stress of it all, knowing it's possible but never knowing exactly when or where.

The absolute shame is that they've turned it into a business, something I despise to no end.

I found part of an old insurance claim on my roof Wednesday morning. Probably from Harrisburg or Ridgeway...weird. My wife said that there's no way to tell when or where it really came from, she's just like Greeney...can argue a buffalo off of a nickle with never a clue about what she really knows.

Since it was dated 19 hundred and something I simply told her." Well I guess I could have missed it these past 13 years when I've been on the roof cleaning the gutters, or checking the condition "

Today's Tornado Setup Similar to 1974 Super Outbreak

The setup and aftermath on Friday for the Ohio and Tennessee valleys could be similar to the weather pattern during and following the 1974 Super Outbreak.

Spanning April 3-4, 1974, a swarm of tornadoes tore through areas from Illinois and southern Michigan to northern Alabama and Georgia.

The outbreak produced 148 confirmed tornadoes, six of which were F-5 intensity. The most powerful of these storms slammed into Xenia, Ohio.

looks like nashville is going to get hit again today.
weather pattern is perfect for major tornado action again.
i got friends there to..i got a real bad feeling thisis going to
be one bad spring starting this early.
we have had a winter down here that has been way above normal ands its going to
hit 60 or so again today.
we been running around all winter in short sleeves.
only 4 days of cold weather this year.
