thats his last jump record, good idea :). now its coaching and rescue helecopter
pilot. think that record will stand a LONG time. it was great to see, i cant imagine jumping out of a baloon modual at 24 miles +, wow that was a LONG way down. he did say he could see the curvature of the earth, everything worked correctly except his visor fogged up for a minute and he couldnt see, we saw history made :)! hard to beat that .

To put this in proper perspective, only the X-15 rocket plane has flown higher @ 66 miles. No airplane has flown higher than 123,000 feet, So Baumgardener jumped from a mile higher than any airplane has ever gone. Chuck Yeagers highest altitude record was in the X-1A,( a later version of Glamous Gennis that broke the sound barriar), and Chucks highest flight was 74,000 feet.
