i thought the beginning was good, promising, made you think about what an event like that would be like, how you'd feel, etc ... which these kinds of movies are supposed to do ... but after about the first 45 minutes, really dropped off for me and got boring ... john cleese was cool as always but it dragged and was kind of blah the second half ...

i just rewatched the original the other day and it still satisfies ... i think it was the first of the 'alien invasion' films to have the aliens 'come in peace' rather than zapping everyone when the hit the atmosphere ... nice message and not terribly heavy-handed ...

btw then watch 'the invasion of the body snatchers', the original, and man that still creeps me out and pops up my heart rate ... really like that one ... i think the best of the 50s, early 60s (or maybe the b&w) scifi movies :)

If I`m to be completely honest. The movies starting from T2 to the Matrix were the bes tmovies ever with both storyline and effects.

Today´s movies are way too computarized which looks worse than the movies from the 90´s and the storylines are like taken from a 4 year old kid

If I have to say some movies that stands a bit close to the 90´s...I have to say is Jurassic Park 3, LOTR Trilogy, Transformers 1 and Flightplan...
Maybe some more but most are simply crap compared to the old times...

And no I`m not old either

Maybe it was the worst out of the Jurassic Park movies but it still beats the hell out of most movies today.

Up, Public Enemies, Coraline, and The International would all like to have a word with you.

Jurassic Park 3 is probably only better than 5% of what's come out this year.
