Ashy knees

This is going to sound stupid, but I decided this morning I was going to do some web searches on ashy knees. Mine are really bad and none of the lotions I use seem to work. Some I've been clicking google links left and right and what I've found is that ashy knees (feet, knuckles, etc.) are widely regarded as a problem for black people. I guess because it's more noticable the darker your skin is. I'm not black, but I live in Florida and am of Puerto Rican descent and I'm getting darker every day, now that the sun is out, which is why I decided to look it up now. It's not just my knees, I get some ashy looking spots on my feet as well, but it's not so pronounced.

So, how about it? Any other whiteys with ashiness? Anybody know a lotion that will actually work?

You know what, I haven't even found one myself.
I used to use lotion everyday, now not as much, because it just seems like
I keep a few dry spots no matter what. I think they may be a few small
patches of psriosis, or the type. Problem is, I have a really dry scalp as well,
no dandruff, but I've used every type of conditioning you could imagine.
My stylist said I should only be washing my hair every 3-4 days. I tryed that for a
couple weeks and it works, and my hair doesn't get bad, but I couldn't keep
it up, just don't like cleaning up and not washing my hair also. I've tryed
more natural things, that hasn't helped either and my hair is super thick.
But, thats another issue of mine.

Best thing I have found for dry skin is bear grease. Not sure you'd want
to use that, or that you could find it, but its better than anything, doesn't
dry up until your skin is smooth....but I'm out of it now, and its not easy to
come by. :oops: :mrgreen:

I've tryed most salon level and doctor recommended product, not as good.
Now I have a cabinet of a ridiculous amount of things that I don't use.
but actually the sun really helps mine, so maybe it will clear. Its
always worse in the colder months :?

I can't wash my hair more than three times a week.
Mine's pretty thick as well, but yeah, it dries my scalp and my hair out.

As for the knees, I'm trying something I heard mentioned a few different times.
I got some St. Ives apricot scrub and I'm using it on my knees and then following it up with an aloe and vitamin E lotion I found. Both cost under $4.00, and my knees seem to be improving, slowly. It's only been a day, though. I think the exfoliation is the important part. I'm also trying to drink more water. I'm going to give this approach a week or two, and see how it works out.

Smart idea for the St. Ives, I've used it for a long time as a facial scrub
and its good stuff. I also need to drink more water, but its not easy for me.
I like my coffee in the morning and I'm a severe Cherry Coke drinker. I drink
a couple of cups of water and its like, ah whats the point.


Ever use Biosilk, that stuff is for hair and skin, now thats
a product I do keep around and never run out of.
A Large bottle you can get for about10$ but it lasts a
really long time. Great for hair and skin, summer time,
its awesome stuff to have around. Makes your feet super soft.

I used to carry matte sheets, summer time my face can be oily, but now I
just use Ponds Oil control cream, that stuff is mint.

I've never used Biosilk, but I LOVED Bio Oil when I was pregnant.
I also used really cheap olive oil, (not virgin, that's too expensive and yummy).

Yeah, I've used the apricot scrub on my face on and off for years.
Really good stuff, and cheap as well.
I like cherry coke, cherry 7 up....anything with cherry, I'm there.
LOL
I drink about 10 cups of tea a day if I'm not careful!
So, to get myself drinking water, I bought a box of Crystal Light Metabolism+ in the green tea peach mango flavor. It's got these little packets which are meant to flavor bottled water, but I make a big pitcher of filtered water at home and just add a couple packets. It's not all super sugary like kool-aid or anything, but it's way less boring than plain old water. Plus, it's about 5 calories a glass, so I can drink it all day long and it'll still be less than calorie-wise than one can of coke. I'm trying to lose about 5 pounds, so that's a big + for me. :lol:

yeah, that's basically all the stuff I've been doing.
It works all right, but if I skip a single day they get all dry again. :(
