2012 Higgs or No Higgs?

"By the time the LHC goes into its first long stop at the end of this year, we will either know that a Higgs particle exists or have ruled out the existence of a Standard Model Higgs," -CERN's Research Director, Sergio Bertolucci.

Great timing, just in time for the end of the world. Well, end of the world from a certain point of view. 2012 is going to be a very interesting year. If they find out there is no Higgs and the standard model is wrong then there's going to be a lot of head scratching. How does this universe work, really?

Personally, I think we're in for a surprise. I can't wait. :clap:
I hope they don't break the machine. :naughty:

I agree, about being in for a surprise. The surprise is going to be the new theory(ies) to replace the standard model.

CERN giving a big Higgs update on July 4. Some speculate that they have probably found it. Congratulations. All hail Sophia.
