Thought I'd share one of my favorite Bukowski poems ...

but being together solved most of it,
in fact, solved all of it
for as long as those things are solved
in the history of woman and
man, its different for each
for me, its splendid enough to remember
past the marching armies
and the horses that walk the streets outside
past the memories of the pain and defeat and unhappiness
Linda, you brought it to me,
when you take it away
do it slowly and easily
make it as if i were dying in my sleep instead of in
my life, amen

Charles Bukowski

There's a belief that when a divorce goes down you take the years of the marriage and half it.
That is suppose to be when the marriage began to break down.
So if you were married twenty years and then divorced, the marriage actually began to fall apart ten years before.

It's because divorce is so painful, many people tend to put it off until it really is the only option

The last part of the poem brought that to mind.

He wrote great moving poems on his life and his relationships with some of the women in his life. There another one I'll post when I get on the PC this weekend that's a tribute to the one woman that he spent most of his life with.

There's a great documentary on Bukowski on Netflix, Born Into This.

I have never read a great, moving poem. I can't run fast enough to get it all in.

I would suggest William Blake.

So.I was off in the bathroom and having all these deep thoughts as I did. I often have deep thoughts in the bathroom. I think it's all the water. Water enhances energies. Ask anyone that scries.

It was about people and fragility, and giving an F. How we must realize we are not perfect beings. None of us. But also, that we ALL count. The good, the bad, and the ugly. That even those who have wronged us, or that we have witnessed wrong others. They even count. That veven as we might judge, hate, despise a person, some small part of us must find some kind of grace for them. Because depending on your beliefs We are all a part of God, or we are all God's children, or we are all a part of the universal whole.

We ALL count. I live in a town that, these days, it's hard to go out and not see a-lot of broken lives. My life ain't great (so far from it..these days) But I see people, nearly every day I go out these days. Wow! Dang! The suffering and the survival that is going on all around me.

In response Ms Bionic ... I find the amount of people on this planet and the way we all go about our lives, each focused on our own (and rightly so to a degree) taking care of our own; the immense emptiness in the thought of our, as we think, our unique and complex lives, being but a speck (if even that) in the history of the human being. Billions upon billions of people have died in the past and will continue to do so as long as more are birthed. As ling as time goes on. Even if one does great things, with enough time he will slowly forgotten. And those that have done great things with no desire to make a name are quickly forgotten. Death is the depression of life if one let's it be. If this is it, it seems but a cruel joke. Though I imagine the ants beneath our feet may feel the same about their plight

Unrelated ... I started reading my first Henry Miller novel Nights of Love and Laughter. It's a collection of some of his short stories. I like his writing from this book. He reminds me of Bukowski in some things and stands unique on others. I look forward to reading more of his writing.
