About five or six years ago (when I was about 9 or 10) when we lived in my old house, I woke up one night around two in the morning.
As I was trying to fall asleep I noticed that I could hear something coming from downstairs, it was a woman. At this kind of time my dad would often stay up for ages watching TV, so I thought that was it. But as I was lying there, listening, it sounded like opera and I knew my dad didn\'t really like opera. It didn\'t stop, but I just told myself that it was my dad watching it because nothing else was on.
When I woke up in the morning and went downstairs I asked my dad whether anyone had been watching opera or listening to it that night. He said no, why? I explained that I had heard it about two in the morning, he told me no-one was even up at that time.
That night I woke up, again in the small hours of the morning, to hear this haunting opera. It scared me so much I started crying and shaking, I put the pillow over my head and I woke up with the pillow still over my head.
During that day my dad told me about a hand signal that was said to warn off evil and ghosts and stuff. Before going to bed I drew a picture of a hand doing this signal on a piece of paper and put in the top drawer of my bedside cabinet.
Again I woke up in the early morning to the sound of opera. As soon as I heard it I got the piece of paper out of my drawer and put it on the foot of my bed, and I also made my hand into this signal. I then shut my eyes and soon the opera stopped and I fell asleep.
The opera never came back after that night, but now that I\'m thinking of it - I can hear it in my mind. It scares me, and I\'m not afraid to admit it.
