GULFPORT, Fla. - A one-eyed, three-legged dog that won the title of world’s ugliest pooch this summer has died.
The St. Petersburg Times in Florida reports that Gus, a Chinese crested dog, had cancer. He was 9.
Gus was rescued from a bad home and went on to win the annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in northern California.
Gus came from humble origins. According to the fair, his adopted family in Gulfport, Fla., rescued him after learning he was being kept in a crate inside someone’s garage.
He had one leg amputated because of a skin tumor and lost an eye in a cat fight.
Gus’ owner had said the prize money from the contest would be put toward the dog’s radiation treatment. |

Dogs are cool, they've got interesting personalities, and I like the undying loyalty.
My dog is hilarious, he's a pitbull/black lab, but he's got the personality of a straight black lab. If someone walks too close too the house while it's dark he lets out this bark that would make you think there is a 120 pound dog in the house while he's only like 70 pounds.
But he adores snuggles, every morning I wake up and he has snuck himself onto my bed while I was sleeping and is curled up in a ball completely underneath my blankets right at my chest level. Doesn't bother with keeping his head above the covers or anything. What a character.  |

I'll tell ya what Spanky, I've known dogs that have more traits that I find honorable than 90% of the people I've encountered in my lifetime, yourself included.

Well it is obviously a shame, and I wouldn't like him any less for his appearance, but the question was if he was ugly or not.
Obviously he won an award with it, so it's safe to bet he is ugly. |
