well it is a hard concept to go into much, i do agree with you.....

i also agree with edgar cayce...or rather the being he was channeling, when he said "all elements outside the human body (i.e. in the universe) also exist within the human body.

in other words...again...we are inseperable from the universe....not only that but it is not the REAL universe we should learn to move beyond but the 'perceived' (limited perception) universe.

i certainly believe i am the universe and the universe is me.

Interesting concepts, I must say. Your thoughts give reason for more thought on this question that has perplexed me for some time. Drawing from the poet's words, “Everything except language knows the meaning of existence”, I've tried to look closely at the language presented here. It's interesting to read how we perceive the meaning of existence through our language. Language may not know the meaning of existence, but I believe the words we use are essential to our existence. Which brings me to those that believe the meaning of existence can be found in the bible, often referred to as the word. It begins in Genesis where God tells Adam and Eve NOT to eat from the tree of knowledge. The bible being the tree and the fruit being the words(my interpretation). To NOT believe in the words, to NOT read the words, which mostly consist of do this, don't do that, OTHERWISE YOU'LL BE KICKED THE HELL OUT OF THE GARDEN! Words tend to divert us from the meaning of our existence depending on their interpretation. Yes, I believe words are essential to the meaning of our existence. Who will hear? Who will see? Who will realize? Who will understand? If one listens closely, one might hear, words of love that whisper soft and true.

Their fundamental premise is that there is something inherently bad about being human, which is one of the reasons why their empty talk of love is so hypocritical.

So basically, you have nothing to offer. The extent of your input is limited to making disparaging comments downplaying anything that anyone else has said.

Oh, that and making threatening posts to others when they best you in a battle of wits.

You really are pathetic.

Wow, some interesting posts here, albeit a bit existential. Maybe I could inject just a bit of science. The brain is a pattern recognition machine. All "ideas" or "concepts" are the combination of a recognized pattern(s) plus the supporting and contradicting data, obtained through the senses and stored in memory. The brain applies filters to the data to purposefully recognize patterns. The brain wants to see patterns. Philosophy is really just a set of concepts applied to historical events (the data). The patterns are categorized and the formation of concepts occurs as a result. That's why people pigeon-hole everything and why people like lists. Unfortunately, though, the senses are not perfect nor is the process of filtering and concept formation. Also, memory storage and retrieval is imperfect. Almost all concepts carry with them both supporting and contradicting data. For example, we believe in the concept of norms or rules (patterns) but we also remember exceptions. Both are important.

Dreams are the brain using all those spare cycles it has when it isn't taking in much input from the senses, so it runs "movies", created from stored data, sometimes in rapid succession, in order to try and derive more patterns that it couldn't recognize when you were awake. Many dreams are the brain trying to get your emotional processor (oops, I forgot to mention processors) to perfect its own pattern recognition (i.e. dealing with emotional life). When the brain is operating correctly you should not remember your dreams as the memory for them is supposed to be cleared when you wake up. Remember, the purpose of the movies was to create more patterns, the movies themselves are irrelevant. Dream interpretation may have some use though as it tells us what your brain is trying to deal with.

Processors are neural net collections that perform specific functions. Emotion is a processor, imagination is a processor, fear is a processor, rationalization is a processor, not to mention all the autonomic functions. These collections of processors make up the mind.

Sorry, I had counter-balance the existentialism.

As far as the meaning of life... we decide that ourselves. "Meaning" is just another pattern.

Of course I have nothing to offer, and no one else has offered anything even remotely noteworthy.

No one has bested me in a battle of wits. You regulars are recluses, not heroes of the free world and all that is right. You actually have to have wit to begin with, to win in a bittle of wits.

The only thing you can rely on American civilians for are taxes...and sometimes they can't even do that.

So let's forget about this entire idea. And continue with what we already know rings true. American civilians = utterly worthless to global situations. Simple fact is, if we got invaded, I would trust you all far less than I would trust the enemy. The enemy is a fellow warrior, we are mirrors. I can predict him, and hopefully he predicts me incorrectly. I know he will try to kill me, and he knows that I will kill him first.

Civilians on the other hand are a mixed bag of treachery, pussyfaggotsyndrome, and the overall shitstain of all that America stands for. All 250+ million of them.

Freedom of Speech is the greatest facade I have ever come across. Some people honestly believe that their right to free speech means all of the sudden they have some sort of power, or they are important. It's the greatest form of mind control that could have been implemented, ever.

I mean, look at us. We are a nation divided, barely any support for either war, the President has like a 12% approval rating and all this American status quo hate rhetoric repeating itself on the internet is in the home of every teenage and emokid that can get on a computer.

Yet no one does anything except continue the American mill like nothing ever happens.

You know what I call this?

Indoctrination and mind control. Hats off to the masterminds behind this ideal.

Wow, I guess my brain thing didn't help. Hard to carry on a conversation with all the bickering and name calling (theking!) isn't it? Well, he lives in the right town, D.C.

Oh I forgot to add... Your brain, and hence you, are here to recognize patterns, and it takes time to develop the skills to recognize the more complex ones, so maybe the meaning of life is to live long enough to give your brain the time it needs to do that. You have to experience good and bad things to enable your brain to recognize the difference. Maybe that's why God lets bad things happen.

Either that or we're just DNA factories. This fits well with what the alien from Roswell said, if you believe that story.

"Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled he will be astonished and he will rule over the All."
