Biden did little better. Composition counts much more than composure.
Palin vs Biden. Style vs Substance. |
Substance doesn't mean much when that substance is more campaign bullshit being spoon fed to the masses to win an election.
I do know this about Palin, she has a gubernatorial approval rating that has been, on average, in the 70 percentile, while Obama, Biden, and her own running mate McCain are part of a legislative body that had a pre-bailout bill approval rating of a Earth shattering 9%, which is probably even lower now since the bailout was passed. The only thing Palin did was go up against a professional and experienced bullshitter.
I like Palin, I do, and I think she was stuck between a rock and a hard place in that debate. She can't really go after Obama and Biden, when the top of her ticket has his own issues, like that amnesty bill, and his willingness to cross the aisle to support decidedly liberal ideals, which was the very reason conservatives in the party were doing everything they could to keep him from winning the primaries. |

I find it interresting that, the folksy talk that Palin does is so offensive to people, and they mock her for it. Saturday nights Tina Fey nails her perfectly, but is that the right thing to do??? I think people are not used to places with a more informal laid back life style from the Governor down. I really question the television attacks that, SNL or David Letterman does every night with an McCain/Palin bashing to national audiences. I think its misuse of the power of television. They should not be allowed an exclusive to endorsing one candidate by doing spoofs on the others.
That same trait, instead of the folksy talk, was the good ol southern accent, with catchy "you all" sayings, or a heavy Boston Accent, or "Don;t ya know" Minnisota, or New England accent would not be scrutinized. God forbit, you mock a Texan. Its unfair to put a spin on her that is no different than any other regional way of speaking. |

Do you actually watch these shows, or just see clips on Fox? Did you not see the way they portrayed Hillary as a cold jealous fake smiling bitch next to Palin? And they were all relentless when it came to the entire Clinton family, be it Leno, Letterman, or SNL... I remember an SNL episode where they had Chelsea Clinton killing all her college dormmates for looking at her funny and not giving her things she asked for. They didn't put a spin on her that they haven't put on anyone else. |

Freedom of speech.
Also, Biden wasn't the only one "lying" about voting records. They both did it. No one actually lies in politics. You take things that are partly true, then exaggerate the hell out of them to try and trick people into thinking you're right. |

| Correct me if I;m wrong! Has any show like SNL or letterman done any spoof on Obama, with his minister talking about what the government has done to black, while they worship to those sermons? Have they mocked Michelle Obama, like they have mocked Palins 17 year old daughter? |

First off, don't even play that game with me Greeney. You never specified Obama, or his wife in the post, so your original assertion still has no merit, you tried to assert that SNL only makes fun of conservatives/Republicans, and that is patently false... You must have missed all the episodes with Will Farrell spoofing Janet Reno, or the previously mentioned skits mocking Chelsea Clinton.
Second, SNL has a white guy in black face with big prosthetic ears spoofing Obama every weekend!!! So yeah, you're wrong.
Here is Letterman making fun of Obama and Mad TV making an ass of Obama

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GINAejZPYI
Third, they can spoof whoever they want, in whatever way they want! If a comedy show could sway a persons vote, Clinton would never have won re-election, or Bush for that matter.
I'm not even gonna continue this one with you, it's ridiculous. |

| What I saw this saturday was SNL VP debate, and it seemed to me to spend more time making her look stupid. What is redicuals is Lettermans vendetta in the last week agianst McCain. Clearly a one sided attack. That isn't humor to me, for you not to see that, is rediculas to me. |

At least I didn't fall asleep like I did for the McCain/Obama debate.
I think (and so did my wife a life long Democrat and I’m neither a Republican or Democrat as I’ve said before) that Palin conducted herself admirably and is not a paper tiger but someone to recon with.
We were both impressed with her performance. It isn’t who won or lost but who seemed credible…they both were. |
"Someone to reckon with"?!?
Are you out of your mind?
She looked like she was going to wee herself!!
She was shaking pretty obviously for about the first 20 minutes.
She barely answered any questions.
She sounds like a FRICKIN Canadian (no offense to ninor, but that accent drives me up the frickin wall) and all her stupid "down home" phrases make me want to kick someone's skull in. Mostly hers.
Can you imagine trotting her out to sit down with foreign dignitaries?
Like W and his ignorance weren't embarrassing enough, ffs. |

That was my point i raised above MM, about accents and ways of speaking. Maybe its becasue she is a woman these thing grate on you, but its no different than the down south you all's, or any other regional accent or phases unique to those places. You even admit to it with your reminder of Canada. My sifes from New Jersey and has lost her Jersey accept, but lots of people can only take about an hour of some accents, until they are ready to gag.
I totally disagree with you about looking like she was nervous once whe got talking. She was nothing like the Katie Curic interview, where she was a deer in the headlights. |

I do my best!

She didn't look any less frightened to me, anyway.
Although I have to say, I thought it was really funny when she said, "Obama and Obiden". If she'd only done it on purpose, I'd have liked her a LOT more. |

I missed that one MM. Being a little nervous is normal I would think, but choking like she did with Katie Curic is another. Since than she has been doing OK and back to what we should expect from someone running for VP. I think we all have a question of all 4, who is and isn;t qualified. Thats why its called an election, not a popularity contest.
I really hope people take a good look at the entire Obama picture, because it could spell disaster for the USA. If we ignore the combination of several things, we could be making a monumental mistake. They include: REverend Wrights views and the ties to Louis Farracan, the Catholic Priest who was so outspoken, Ties to Ayers, Ties to ACORN, the new story tied to the Kenya elections, Mrs. Obama's views in line with Rev. Wright, worshoping for 20 years in a church where they have anti-american sentiment. Obama's Senate voting record, and being the most liberial Senator in the Senate. One by one he is dismissing them all, not ansering them. Put them all togather and its paints a very bad picture of Obama.
Compared to that, you have a pair, McCain and Palin who both have a record of going after corupt situations. McCain with the Boeing Company, and Palin in the State of Alaska rooting out corupt people from the State Government. |
