I do find the initial refusal interesting just as many others do I suspect. It certainly isn't inline with our usual responses to Israel. Israel most often gets whatever she asks for from us.
My personal opinion is that Russia is playing a part in the US's decision on this matter. Unfortunately we are not the only major player on the board anymore. Which makes things considerably more dynamic, We will no longer have the luxury of just following our own agenda, without giving do consideration to Russia's counter moves.
It may not be long before the US has no control over this war, or for how long we will fight it. This conflict is quickly loosing it's political guide ability. More and more strategic and tactical concerns will have to be addressed. We have many major assets of our nation bairly defended at this time. Ports, Airports and major industries. We are simply not in a defensive posture that would withstand something on the scale of a Russian air asault.
The bottom line is I recon Russia warned the US on no uncertain terms that an attack by Israel would be seen as an American attack on Iran. |

I also wish there come a time when Israel ,and Palestine,and Iran, and Syria, and others,can finally get along.
I don't like the fact that we try to protect them more than I think neccesary.
We do get into trouble when we blindly listen to Israel.
We do need to remember that Israel is their own Nation looking out for their best interests. As do we. We do need to make the seperation when it's the right thing to do.

The link I provided states that the 'Israelis' won't need refuelling planes or larger bombs or an air-passageway as they are going to get smaller bombs which do the same job better.

Action speak louder than words... The U.S. has condemned the actions of Israel numerous times, but has never taken action against Israel. We are so far past the point of blaming one side or the other for the problems with Israel, after all these years both sides have committed atrocities against one another, both sides go way overboard in their responses, the only difference is that the world community, including the U.S., talks and talks and talks, but only ever seems to take action against the side that isn't Israel. Israel, after all, does have the distinction of being the first and only democracy to bomb another democracy... To put what they did to Lebanon in perspective, if anti-government terrorists in Germany kidnapped 3 U.S. soldiers, the U.S. would work with the German government to get those responsible, and rescue the soldiers, not bomb Germany. Israel is the spoiled child of the U.S., knowing that it won't get punished if it does something it's told not to. |
