At the speed of light, matter reduces to energy. This has been demonstrated; stars and galaxies do it for us constantly. So did the Manhattan Project.
Pay attention to Star Trek Episode 1 and you'll hear the captain calling his pilot to engage the time-warp drive, a sci-fi concept played upon by Gene Roddenberry, loosely based on Einstein's works.
The bending of light metals and thrusting effects from the machine described were the direct result of applying very high current to a giant supercooled electromagnet; the 'light metals' bent due to ferrous impurities in them, including steel rivets or screws, and possibly nickel (yes, it's magnetic) alloyed into said metals.
There is no such thing (YET) as an over-unity device. Want free energy? Try applying the principles of a crystal radio, which is powered by the radio waves it recieves, converting them back into electrical current, but at a highly inefficient (under-unity) rate.
Better still, camouflage inductors as wire splices and tie them onto the power lines that feed your house. If you get caught, you're on your own.
The only thing known to date that appears to exceed the speed of light is the gravitational constant as applied to singularities. Author Larry Niven and his friend Dr. Jerry Pournelle played with the idea of capturing miniature singularities to power spacecraft; the tales they spun in their collaborations were very entertaining.  |

| Holly Crap, i totally forgot about this post here. Awesome to see so many responses. I still dont have the answers. The Doco UFO's The Greatest Story Ever Denied, was good. Some dude for some mob was sayin that they have a craft that is capable of light speed or better, but they dont say how. I want to know dammit. Why can they just make it worlk wide public the tech that does exist so people can work on using it. **ck all this implications for WDM's and war. This planet needs to get its **it together cause when the Aliens Start fucking up the place with there Nukes were not gunna be to worried about what Afganistan is doing or Korea, We need to work together as a Planet and stop this war **it. |

| Is anyone here familiar with the auroraborreallus (sp?) project. It is the use of planets or bodies gravitational force and applying opposite force in order to propell in repelling. If I can I will post soon with the appropriate liturature. Basically the government has come closer to mans never ending quest for perpetual motion. |

In reading all of these posts on FTL travel, It would seem that man (at this stage of our developement) has clear theories about being able to generate the kind of energy to move FTL. I question whether we have the ability to harness or direct that energy in a way with which we would be able travel any great distance safely.
Even if we were to reverse engineer a vehicle produced by higher evolved specie, I would have doughts about our abilities to comprehend the navigation and avionics of the thing. |
