They had babysitters available, but they say they didn't trust them, and decided not to use them. Some say the bicycle riders who ride back and forth to listen for crying children were available too, but some say not. They had options and for what ever reason they didn't use them.
If they are guilty the PJs messed up the case by not investigating it correctly and using psychics. It would be wrong to convict under the evidence the court has and more than likely they are innocent. There is another girl missing under the same pretenses from the same area named Joanna Capriani. Her mother and uncle were tortured into confessions and the original investigator in the Mccann case had to step down. There are about 5 or 6 police officers involved. The girl was never found and they never looked for her, they collected evidence that was not usable, but used it to convict in court.
It was a pretty sick case because the mother was sleeping with her brother. Seman was found on Joana's clothes in the hamper, but it was proven it came off of the mother's clothes. It was still used in court against her and her brother to convict as if Joana's uncle put it there. PJ purposely lead the jury with it as if it were unquestionable.
They also searched the McCanns apartment and the Capriani's apartment when the scent of the girls was too faded, but used the evidence in court as if it were fresh. Niether girls were proven dead and they convicted the mother and uncle with no body.
I will always doubt a police department that uses psychc testimony over sitings. A cold case file would be fine to use them, but on a fresh case still being investigated, you don't go around using the psychics to build a case against someone in court. PJ is not a very reliable police force. |
