Why am I not surprised?
It's just another example of the state using religion to exercise control of the people. I'm sure this is rampant in the military. |

When I enlisted in May 1973 the Constitution meant something different
it seems. There was absolutely no pressure to "worship". Only was notified
where the different denominations were located if I wanted to worship.
At the time, the Air Force even got my declared religion wrong on my "Dog
Tags" I applied as a Methodist and my dog tags came to me stating that
I was Roman Catholic. This would have come in real handy for Last Rights
since they also put the wrong Blood type on my Tags also. I wonder does a
plus or a minus on a blood transfusion make a difference?
I still have my tags |

Right Greeney.
It would be hypocritical of me to join an orgaization that is intended for war. Most of those wars I'd categorize as murder. |

| LMAO.....the military can't even tolerate or accept those that are not of a particular faith within their own ranks......but they are going to win a war in a country that is vastly different than ours..............oh yes boy do I ever have faith in our way of thinking/acting. |

That funny, I see the military as intending to defend Peace. I'm betting more people here see you as screwball than me a hypocrite. |

| Unfortunately, the military has had a long history of institutionalized discrimination; ideological and otherwise. It wasn't too long ago that after 9/11, the Christian-dominated hierarchy of the military and their superiors have drilled the notion into the minds of soldiers that the people they are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan are "ragheads", "sand-niggers", and all the rest of it. The military has often been a tool of racism, including religious intolerance, or in this case, philosophical intolerance (atheists). |

Are you calling me a screwball?
I said that it would be hypocritical of me to join the military because they promote war.
Invading countries, overthrowing democratically elected rulers, encouraging and arming insurgents to overthrow their government, as our military is used for, is anything but "defending the peace". These are all offensive tactics employed by our government and paid for with our tax money. |
