Bloodstone you do realize that Congress' E-mail boxes are getting overwhelmed with people mostly tyelling them not to pass right now. Everyone of those guys who voted yes and is up for election is probably going to get voted out of office ASAP.

I know this, I was one of them who disagree with this.

It won't matter come vote time. Their hands are being tied. they will go along with this. They will lose a lot of incumbents this election.(Great news for us) they are being forced to pass this.

I for one see this as a great opportunity to vote out all incumbents this election cycle. I just hope everyone does.

The stock market is holding them hostage, People are losing thousands of dollars a day. If not more. They will have no choice. They are basically being told that this has to pass or America is doomed. The Stock market is making this work.It is holding all of us hostage

Guess which government this paragraph is about:

"Following a pattern it had set in earlier bailouts of smaller banks, the government set up a holding company, which it financed together with the central bank. This company acquired all the corporate shares held in the portfolios of the banks at the higher historical, not current prices. Thus, the government not only provided liquidity to the banking system, but it also absorbed part of its losses. It also became the largest shareholder in a number of firms. Many of the industrial firms thus acquired were themselves on the verge of failing and benefited not just from the rescue of their banks but also from the direct infusion of public money… The cost of the entire bailout was a staggering 10 percent of GDP — the comparable amount in the United States today would be about $1 trillion. "

The quote is from Saving Capitalism from the Capitalists, by Raghuram G. Rajan and Luigi Zingales, p 213. The bold bailout was by Benito Mussolini. The results were as corrupt and as anti-competitive as you could probably imagine.

I always said I was against it . I do think however it needs to pass now.

The reason is, they are playing games, and the longer they drag this vote out the worse it will become. The Stock market is in full control here. The longer they sit ,and wonder should they shouldn't they . The market is tanking everyday they wait. Why ? cause they want their lolipop . So they will let the market tank till they get it. It's the spoiled kid holding us all hostage. The Government played right into it.

The Government created this panic, now everyone bought into it. Thats why I say do it and get it done so we can come to some kind of evening.

You might want to go into politics the way you flip-flop on issues.
You'd fit right in and bubble up to the top in no time.

Shadow you can copy whatever you want.

You have no clue what I stand for. I am telling you again, maybe you can understand.

I completley disagree with this bail out. I do however believe this needs to pass to stop all this panic. We are being lied to on all fronts in this issue. The longer it is dragged out, the more you and I will suffer.

I hate that we need to do this, but it needs to be done. I never said I was all for it . all I was saying is this needs to get fixed now.

How much money have you lost since this panic started ? have you checked you're 401k lately? This is a scam on global proportions. The Stock market will continue to fall, and the credit freeze will get worse while we all sit here ,and watch the politicians fight over votes.

If we are to move forward we need to have this settled now. The panic is already too deep.

So stop trying to put words in my mouth.

I will say it again. I hate that we need to give these idiots more money . We need to do it, or the rest of us are doomed. They got us real good on this one.

It's better to face reality and let the whole rotten system crash.

So the bailout isn't needed to stop the panic, all that's needed is for the President, Congress, the corporate scum friends of theirs, and all the tv analysts the media puts on the air to stop lying and striking fear into everyone so that they can get money to their buddies.

This sounds nice and fun, but when the rampant murder starts...

You'll have wished otherwise.

He lives in Japan though.

I wonder what's going on with the Japanese economy...

If our system crashes it will bring down all the other markets. Worldwide anarchy and despotism will prevail. I've already been through one major economic recession and don't want to see another one; the 'recession' caused by 9/11 was a cake walk.

The bailout is a crock. It is unnecessary. The fear mongering is being done by the corporate media and the politicians. One politician even mentioned the "martial law" phrase...

Quote:
"The one thing that's been proven is the absolute fear mongering that's being used to drive us is false," Sherman complained. "I've seen members turn to each other and say, 'If we don't pass this bill, we're going to have martial law in the United States.' "

http://www.latimes.com/business/investing/la-fi-bailout2-2008oct02,0,1307485.story?page=2

These guys think we're idiots. I listened to Christopher Dodd yesterday act like this was a surprise. What a jerk! He is part of the problem.

The lobyists created legislation and bought off the political players. There were rules and regulations before, but it doesn't matter when those oversight groups are owned by the corporations they're supposed to regulate.

Welcome to fascism. If this bailout passes due to fear mongering, it will be worse for the American people.

LET THEM FAIL! In a capitalistic country there will be 5 more companies that rise up in their place. Its calle the free market. We should really try it some time.
