I concur 007, and will be writing both an e-mail and an actual letter as well.
You can see in the photos judging by the tracks, the rover apparently drove right over the object. As for them not studying it further, I suppose it IS possible that they missed it or didn't notice it until they were too far away to make going back and checking it out not worth it, although I suppose those possibilities are quite a stretch.
As for the classification, I cannot see how that would fall under a matter of national security unless they're worried about a panic or some such.
I was scanning some other boards last night related to the object and found a couple of possible explanations that could fit. I would post a link to the thread, but I'm not sure what the rules are on that here...
One of which, "The object in the back ground is the heatshield, you can also seen a meteroite next to it. both of these were examined in detail a few weeks ago. The so called "wood" is probly a type of weathered sedimentry rock that was kicked up by a nearby impact Jumping to conclusion just makes you look silly "
I tend to agree with, and as another on the board said, you can find rocks like that here on earth, as I have quite a few in the mountains around my house.
All in all, I'm 98% sure it's nothing, but I'm just curious as to why NASA has been silent about it. Unless of course, they did turn around, analyze it, and all that good stuff, only to find out it's a rock, and didn't want to let anyone know they wasted their time and money on it, fearing another "face on mars" fiasco.

I had to upload it to my flickr account since I can't find out where I downloaded it last night, but it's unedited.
Yes, I know, it's nothing, but I'm sure eventually they'll be conspiracy theories about it as well.
(and to be sure, you can find the same image in links previously mentioned in other posts and the artifact/distortion is not there) |

The existance of LIFE off Earth...even in microscopic form. Look how they treated Dr. Levin with his POSSITIVE results fromhis 1976 LBR experiment and look how "tip-toeing" around sending anything to TEST for life to Mars...the geological "rock hounds" are in charge of keeping the possibility of LIFE on Mars as far distant as possible.
Then that means there could be ETI LIFE EVERYWHERE and makes UFOS/Flying Saucers into "mainstream" and the Bildeberg Bankers are scared shitless of that.
