😮
It seems there may be a little more to this story after all. From TheBlaze...

"House Republicans on the Oversight and Government Affairs Committee believe they may have found where Lois Lerner’s “lost” emails are, and are asking the IRS for more details about whether they have searched everywhere for those records.

Subcommittee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) wrote to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen on Friday and said congressional staff spoke to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration on Thursday.

In that phone call, TIGTA said hundreds of computer servers have not yet been searched for the missing emails, despite assurances from Koskinen and others that the IRS has looked everywhere.

“The committee has recently learned that Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration has identified 760 IRS exchange server drives from the relevant period that currently exist and could contain Ms. Lerner’s emails,” Jordan wrote.

“According to TIGTA, the IRS did not search these sources for Ms. Lerner’s emails during its process of producing documents to Congress because the IRS was not aware that the exchange servers even existed,” he added. “According to TIGTA, the IRS was under the mistaken belief that the exchange servers had been destroy din 2012 until TIGTA’s review of IRS records indicated that the servers had not been destroyed due to budgetary constraints.”

“These 760 exchange server tapes could be a potential source for the destroyed emails sent or received by Ms. Lerner,” Jordan wrote"...

Or is it just another chorus in a never ending litany of 'He said-She said'?

GOP report: Top IRS official considered admitting targeting before 2012 election -- but didn’t

A top IRS official considered going public with the agency’s targeting of conservative groups at a hearing just months before the 2012 presidential election but ultimately decided against revealing the bombshell news, according to a new report from a GOP-led House committee.

Then-Deputy Commissioner Steven Miller wrote in an email in June 2012, about a month before a House Ways and Means subcommittee hearing, that he was weighing whether to testify to “put a stake” in the “c4” issue -- apparently a reference to allegations about politics playing a role in the agency’s denial of tax-exempt, 501(c)(4) status to conservative-leaning groups. ...

... Now-retired IRS official Lois Lerner, in charge of the agency’s tax-exempt division during the 2010-2012 targeting, eventually revealed the scandal at an American Bar Association event in May 2013 -- roughly six months after President Obama won re-election and just days before an inspector general report on the allegations was scheduled for release.

“They used names like Tea Party or Patriots and they selected cases simply because the applications had those names in the title,” she said at the time. “That was wrong, that was absolutely incorrect, insensitive and inappropriate.”

If it's not politically motivated then what - they were just messing with Tea Party applicants for kicks? or maybe they meant non political in the traditional way...established way

As some people have already pointed out, either way, it's not good for any of us, regardless of party affiliation, etc. Left alone(what's broken is not fixed) it seems the next admin. would inevitably seize that lever of control with possibly greater consequences. And THEN the mainstream journalists may be slightly inquisitive.
