Ho-ly shit.
Best movie of the summer, hands down.
Christpoh Waltz is f**king inspiring, Brad Pitt is electric, and whoever played Helstrom deserve a medal as well.
This movie will disintegrate your mind into little globs of paste.
Quit reading this sorry excuse for a review and go see it. Now. You will NOT be disappointed.
Gnatzees were killed, and they were killed real good.

I will watch it aswell.
It's absolutely fantastic. Best movie of the summer, perhaps the year. Still waiting to see how Shutter Island plays out.

I want to see it.
But I'll tell yah, I almost want to boycott it for a bit in retaliation for, protest of the blatant, unapologetic, in yer face, saturation campaign that obviously is in the works for it, mediawise.
That's a bit of a turn off.
Can you say 'too much' or 'overkill'?

Why? Are you having fun?

It's suppose to be overkill. It's a tongue-in-cheek, satirical movie. It's supposed to be just a flat-out high speed burn on anything and everything Nazi.
The fantastic bonus is that you have a magnificent German actor by the name of Christoph Waltz, and Brad Pitt... who's just plain f**kin' awesome.

Saw it today...it was the worst case of "Mary Sue" I've ever seen....Tarantino's dream of killing Hitler.....lame and useless. It wasn't even as compelling as "Sweeney Todd." All those foreign conversations....yadda yadda yadda...for a finale that was known from the first 20 minutes. M. Knight Shaymalan and Tarantino are losing their edges.

You have no idea who Tarantino is, do you? He builds characters through dialog. That's what his movies are ALWAYS about. Characters and dialog. If you didn't go into the movie expecting Tarantino, your hopes were in the wrong place.
Explain how killing Hitler was lame and useless? No one in the history of cinema has done that before and no where near the degree that Tarantino did it. No one knew that it was going to happen, even though evidence of multiple people on IMDb, IGN, and dozens of other movie sites have people left and right attesting to them never expecting that.
To top THAT off, he made several jabs at the current American thinking with things like Landa saying that the bombs strapped the Basterd's legs were akin to terrorism, as if mocking the people in the audience who thought it was 'cool' or that, "They were gonna get 'dem Gnatzees." The other scene with the German High Command laughing and cheering at the scenes in Stolz der Nation where Allied soldiers were being picked off left and right, as well as the actual audience in the theater laughing and cheering as the High Command gets gunned down.
Hell, Tarantino even threw the bones of making a couple German soldiers the good guys in the end and making the Basterds look like sadistic animals.
If THAT is your feeling on the movie, then you obviously didn't get it.

I remember the first time I saw "Natural Born Killers" (another great movie) I came out of the theater with a major migraine headache
..but then I got use to his style and LOVE it.
He seems completely wacked, though. More so as time goes by.
Too much fun..mixed with too complex a mind..over time..can spell personal disaster
I sometimes wonder if he will have a Phil Spector-like future
