I once heard a story about the great Albert Einstein. I have no idea whether it is true or not. As the story goes, Einstein would periodically give lectures on his theory of relativity. In this one particular lecture Albert Einstein was giving on his theory of relativity, he could sense by the temperament of the audience they had difficulty in understanding his theory. As the story goes, Einstein left the lecture somewhat disappointed. One of Einstein’s assistants who attended the lecture with him asked what was the trouble. Einstein went on to say that they just did not seem to understand what I was trying to convey to them during the lecture. The assistant tried to make Einstein feel better when he said the following, “You know Albert there are 2 areas of infinite vastness, the first is outer space and the second is man’s ignorance”.The Einstein story brings home the fact that mankind lacks humility. Even if we do not know why something happens, we are compelled to concoct a cogent explanation, even if we do not have a clue as to the cause.
