Two modules in the network of modules that comprise a mind.
The muse does not make a distinction between the stage and what's behind the scenes. The editor sorts and classifies things. The editor monitors the script and nibbles at it, often inflicting its own prejudice upon it. The muse does nothing but add to it while the editor subtracts.
The editor prefers to keep things to just the stage, the consensus reality, while the muse likes to keep doors open and deal with many worlds, including the behind-the-scenes.
The muse is intuition. The editor is judgement.
The muse is instinct. The editor is the manual override.
The muse is pure consciousness while the editor is the translator, the "go between" the stage and the behind-the-scenes.
The muse and the editor are like the two hungry wolves; when they are fed they grow stronger and conversely when not fed. Some people have little or no use for the muse, it is not well fed. Some people have little or no use for the editor, it is not well fed. Conversely for other people.
That their influence can vary from moment to moment means that they can be cultivated and encouraged.
The muse is connected to what is behind the scenes while the editor is attached to the stage.
The muse is the flow, the green light. The editor is the red light. The lights dance within a mind.
The muse brings the information. The editor spreads the misinformation.
Life is the impromptu story of the muse and the editor told by a mind.
