Willie Wonka quotes..
What is this Wonka, some kind of funhouse?
Why? Are you having fun?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

It woke me up.

you said you didn't even get hurt in that accident
it was a miraculous near miss, right?

I have had a-lot of near misses..so many I kind of take them for granted

My confidence in driving dropped to zero and to this day, I'm leery of driving.

My physical body was in immense danger. I was never biologically near death, no.

I've had the tunnel/disembodied/light/dark/vision thing though but not near death.

okay..the reason I posted that was because I have had two big car accidents in my life..that I maybe, should not have survived through..I felt protected both times

The first one when I was 22..I was in a head on collision with a car that turned out from another street in front of me..I slammed into the side of them. Totalled my car.

Luckily, I had my seat belt on..it probably saved me, at least some serious injury..unluckily, I did not have the shoulder strap on. My face slammed into the stearing wheel..I remember the impact..slow motion..I also felt the seatbelt tug me back as I was impacting..it knocked me out for a few moments..my nose got broke..I remember waking up wondering if iIwas alive or dead for a moment. And jollily realizing I WAS alive.

The second one happened when I was about 26..I was on a ice covered highway and a racoon ran in front of me..this was in the dead of winter, NY state. Stupdily, I slammed on my brakes..worrying for the fing racoon..hit it anyway and went spinning..across the highway..across the medium and into the traffic coming the other way. All in slow motion, felt like a thrill ride. When my car stopped I looked up, my car was facing the oncoming traffic , a cluster of cars, heading my way..on ice covered road..my car was stalled ..a sort of voice in my head said calmly to start my car and drive across the road..this was happening in slow motion for me..my car started , I got out of the way of the traffic just in time..as soon as I was at the side of the road my car died and would not start up again. One of the cars I would have hit pulled over to check on me. It was a young couple..they were all excited and freaked. Knew wea ll came close to a horrific scene. I had a weird calm feeling. They could not believe how calm I was. They gave me a ride home.

I have had so many near misses..I have realized I am protected (for now, at least)

I don't like driving much myslef, believe it or not.
I feel silly about it and force myself. To keep me feeling okay about it I remind myself Barbara Walters, world famous journalist, she is afraid to drive.

We all have had near misses in our cars, can't even count how many times my life went before me on motorcycles, but unless you did something really earth shattering, they arn't really near death experiences. The one and only time I felt death was a possibility was during the Northridge earthquake. Being right on top of the center, the noise was so deafening, I could not hear myself yelling "Oh God" "Oh God", and a grandfather clock smashed inches from my head as I was in bed riding it out. I never herd it gong, and you can't move it 2 inches without it making noise. I thought I was going to actually be killed by a wall of water, rather than the house falling. Even that I do not considered a near death experience. It was scary and a close call mentally, but not really physically, I was imagining it in fear.

NDE to me are things like dying on an operating table and coming back, but having some white light vision, or out of body experience. Drowning and being revieved. Something really tramatic like battlefield terror and horror. I can only imagine what the Chile Miners experienced.

Ah so the body must be near death to be NDE. But what about like in Pulp fiction when they were ambushed from the dude hidden in the bathroom who unloaded a clip at them but every single shot missed? THAT is NDE, too, my friend. Then look at the reaction that Jules (Sam Jackson) had. That "divine intervention" made him want to rethink his career, so to speak.

To me, Death is not physical death but any event that causes an awakening or at least an epiphany.

Kind of Crowley-an in that regard. You'd do well to research what Crowley thought Death is and THEN tell me what near death, even remotely, distantly near, death is. Crowley isn't the only one, though. There are signs of viewing death that way in Scripture I'll bet.
