Ok, lets try something new. You're all familiar with word assocation games. I.E. someone says a word, then the next person says a word that's related, then the next person says a word related to that and so on. People get points for being extra clever. It's fun.

Well let's try song assocation. I'll start by posting a song. The format will be: Post a song title, the band underneath that, then post the lyrics.

The next song someone posts, must be related to mine in some way. It can be inspired by my song title, my lyrics, or even just the name of the band that sings my song.

The only hard rules: your post must be related to the most recent post (the one above it).. sorry if you miss the opportunity when someone posts ahead of you. If someone beats you to the punch you'll have to delete your message and post one related to their song. The songs must all have something to do with the subject of RELIGIOUS & SPIRITUAL, and they must be good quality songs you want to share with the group. Special songs to you. No trash.

I'll kick us off in the next message. Let's try to keep it clean and not make messy, confusing posts.

Song: Pain Lies By the Riverside
Band: LIVE

I have never taken life,
Yet I have often paid the price
And you, you are a victim of this age
And the guilt that hangs around your neck
Has got me locked up in a cage

You've got to learn to live until no end
But first you must learn to swim
All over again
Because...

Pain lies on the riverside
And pain will never say goodbye
Pain lies on the riverside
So put your feet in the water
Put your head in the water
Put your soul in the water
And join me for a swim tonight

I have forever, always tried
To stay clean and constantly baptized
I am aware that the river's banks are dry
And to wait for a flood
Is to wait for life

I've got to learn to live until no end
But first I must learn to swim all
Over again

Every one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man. - Albert Einstein

Swimming to the Other Side
By Elaine Silver

"Chorus: (same melody as verse)
We are living 'neath the great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together
Some in power, some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on
Cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live together
We're all swimming to the other side.

I am alone, and I am searching, hungering for answers in my time
I am balanced at the brink of wisdom, I'm impatient to receive a sign
I move forward with my senses open, imperfection will be my crime
In humility I will listen, we're all swimming to the other side

On this journey of thoughts and feelings, finding intuition: my head, my heart
I am gathering the tools together, I'm preparing to do my part
All of those who have come before me, band together to be my guides
Loving lessons that I will follow, we're all swimming to the other side

When we get there we'll discover, all of the gifts we've been given to share
Have been with us since life's beginning and we never noticed they were there
We can balance at the brink of wisdom, never recognize that we've arrived
Loving spirits will live together, we're all swimming to the other side"

Hope its good enough, I like the song. I went on the swimming theme, although
its somewhat similar I think it adds to it.
And there were alot of rules. :geek:

Give me an A for effort. 🙂

astonishment. “I never heard of such a thing!”

Try highlighting the lyrics or band name or song title, whatever you think is "religious or spiritual," i.e. look at the lyrics I highlighted in mine.

Now I'm going to go listen to your song, then I'll think of a reply! 😀

*edit*

Um, this is obviously religious/spiritual. Very much so. Philosophical too. Good job! A+ !!

Excellent and beautiful song, though it's a little folksy for my taste. I love the violin, or is it a ukelele.

Song: Sirens of the Sea
Band: OceanLab

Take my hand, take my hand yeah take my hand
Follow me, follow me yeah let's go
To the sand, to the sand, the purest sand
Into the sea, into the sea yeah let's go

Leaving reason far behind
Nothing here is cruel or kind
Only your desire to set me free

Let us lie here all alone
Worn away like river stone
Let us be the sirens of the sea

I ... can not ... resist ... your call (x4)

Take my hand, take my hand yeah take my hand
Follow me, follow me yeah let's go
Let us lie here all alone
Worn away like river stone
Let us be the sirens of the sea

Leaving reason far behind
Nothing here is cruel or kind
Only your desire to set me free

Let us lie here all alone
Worn away like river stone
Let us be the sirens of the sea

I ... can not ... resist ... your call (x4)

I love this song, it's so beautiful. I've always put a Christian spin on it, by imagining me and a friend in the water, baptizing one another, inviting others to join us... and then there is the "I can not resist your call" which is a principle belief I have when it comes to God's call and our inability to resist it.

This association is based on the "I can not resist your call"

Kinda fits with the whole forsaking phenomena mentioned in the other thread. You'll probably hate a couple of lines, and I probably don't really care for those lines...but I enjoy the lyrics kinda how a non-Catholic can enjoy The Exorcist. I am not a satanist.

Song: God of The Forsaken
Band: Morbid Angel

I've seen visions awakening
drawing timeless life to an end
I've felt forces pulling at me
I have rejoiced in them

I've heard voices calling names
I have reveled in their beckoning
for the voices that summon me
have grown immense

my senses keen with desire and pain
senses heightened by my need to see
to feed the hunger that I feel inside
awake my soul to ecstasy

my father the forsaken
the king of blasphemy
they cower at your name
they live in ignorance
they hide behind a doctrine
that has taught them only lies
now let them see
thy world, immaculate

I've seen visions awakening
drawing timeless life to an end
I've felt forces pulling me
and I have rejoiced in them

I've heard voices calling my name
I have waited for their beckoning
for the voices that summon me
bring the gift of bliss

Speaking of Morbid Angel... an early 80's classic comin' your way

Song: Send Me an Angel
Band: Real Life

Do you believe in heaven above?
Do you believe in love?
Don't tell a lie, don't be false or untrue
It all comes back to you

Open fire!
On my burning heart
I've never been lucky in love
My defenses are down
A kiss or a frown
I can't survive on my own

If a girl walks in and draws her name in my heart
I'll turn and run away
Everyday we've all been led astray
It's hard to be lucky in love

It gets in your eyes
It's making you cry
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
You're looking for love
Calling heaven above

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now, right now

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now, right now

Empty dreams can only disappoint
In a room behind your smile
But don't give up, don't give up
(give up, give up, give up)
You can be lucky in love

It gets in your eyes
It's making you cry
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
You're looking for love
Calling heaven above

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now, right now

Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now, right now

(Repeat 3 times)

...Right now

I played off your band name... sure you can think of one from my band name.

I can think of a song which mentions an angel by name, but that line is one of the few in the song that have anything to do with R&S & the last song. 😕
