Your tactics are too thinly veiled.

"Pssssst.. hey! I have an idea! Let's create a thread where we post a R.I.P. message about a guy who Christians normally didn't like, who died! Then if the Christians come in and say something mean, we'll jump all over them and make a big deal out of it! And, if the thread doesn't get any attention, we'll talk to each other and pretend that they are thinking they want the guy to burn in hell, and insult them and bait them into the thread... then when they come in and we get in a huge argument, at the end, I'll just post something like... ' Well gosh, Christians, I was only trying to pay my respects to a poor man that died... you Christians are really cruel and mean!'"

Yep. That just about sums it up.

Merry Christmas, and try to stay out of Whoville this year.

Wow. You really are good at telling stories. You should become a priest.

Still doesn't change this telling evidence:

No way in "Hell" you can hide it.

What are you suggesting I meant? Evidence of what?

Quit playing dumb. Or...are you playing?

Why don't YOU tell ME what you meant? I'd love to hear it.

"frrostedman" wrote: You really do have a persecution complex, don't you.

Seeing how "don't" is a contraction for "do not," you're not making sense.

I mean, listen to yourself:

"You really do have a persecution complex, do not you."

Jealous much?

Tough crowd in here!

Anybody with a little bit of sense could easily see you were joking.

It's very telling...how they get all defensive, isn't it. Just how insecure they are about themselves and their beliefs.

EV,

Quit being such a drama queen.

I'll say it again. I am confident. You will see all the evidence for God's existence and then some, eventually.

Just like I have.

You see, I am quite convinced that you are going to be a believer at some point in your life.

I don't know why I should "hide" from that sentiment and I don't understand all the hysterics and drama.

Just curious if God is imaginary, and there is no afterlife, why would anyone think "RIP" at all for this person? If your contention is, when you are dead its over, RIP isn't an issue, you are just dead, your life has ended. You are born, you live, and you Die.

To RIP implies another life, an afterlife, leaving this life for another, something spiritual may happen after death, a hope there is something else after this life. You tell us how futile it is to believe in God, insist we can not proove he exists, so why not the same standard with RIP. You Can't proove it will happen, and he didn;t believe it anyway, so why waste the time with it?

Just remember, anything derogatory that an Atheist said in this thread, is "an obvious joke," and to say otherwise is to victimize them. But the Christians on the other hand; anything we say that can be taken out of context to be cruel and hateful, was meant as cruel and hateful and couldn't possibly have been constructed any other way.

The thread was a set up. Hence the disingenuous "R.I.P."

It's a way of honoring the life he lived, and being glad his immense suffering from cancer is over, and hoping he'll be remembered for a long time to come.

Technically he is not "resting" as such, he is gone, completely, but what do you want me to say "rot in the ground and get eaten by worms, Hitch!"?

Here's hoping both of our beliefs are wrong Greeney, and Hitch is somehow able to live on, in a pleasent afterlife, away from any sadistic Gods or demons, however unlikely such a scenario may be.

Well, since according to the Bible only a miniscule percentage of people will manage to escape a vile hell of an afterlife, I'd like to know how/why you're confident of this?

Unless you mean he'll find out too late, and still end up in hell, in which case, it still sounds like gloating on your part.

Given your beliefs that:

a) A person cannot come to believe in God without his intervention, and at which point, he'll have no choice to believe, and
b) A tiny percentage of people will become believers in time and get to heaven

The odds for him and myself are pretty terrible, yes, given that you are correct?
